Exciting activities in response to World Environment Day 2023

In practical response to World Environment Day this year, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has issued Plan No. 135/KH-UBND with many important contents and tasks assigned to sectors, units and localities for implementation such as: organizing a series of activities in response to International Day for Biological Diversity; World Environment Day; World Oceans Day and Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2023, which must take place synchronously, attracting the attention and active participation of all levels, sectors, organizations, businesses and a large number of people in the province.

Thanh Hoa province organized many activities in response to World Environment Day (June 5).

Organize propaganda andeducation activities to raise awareness for all levels, departments, branches, organizations and people of all walks of life about the importance of environmental protection, the harmful effects of plastic pollution and nylon bags on life; print banners made from environmentally friendly materials to promote World Environment Day, Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2023 and hang them in public areas, streets, offices and suitable locations. Strengthen control over the collection, transportation and treatment of waste and plastic waste, especially in coastal areas and on islands; organize beach cleaning activities, clean up the environment in coastal areas, coastal tourist areas, anchorage areas, fishing ports, coastal wholesale markets; organize tree planting to prevent coastal erosion...

Accordingly, implementing the plan of the Provincial People's Committee, the Farmers' Association of Thanh Hoa province organized a campaign to respond to World Environment Day in Quang Trung commune, Bim Son town. Participating in the program, nearly 2,000 students, militia, officials and civil servants in the town simultaneously launched a campaign to clean up the environment at key points prone to environmental pollution, residential areas, offices and schools. On this occasion, the Farmers' Association of the province also supported a number of items and equipment to serve environmental protection work in the commune.

Continuing to respond to the Action Month for the Environment and World Environment Day, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Women's Union launched the Response Ceremony and launched the model "Family Club of 5 Yes, 3 Clean" in Tien Trang Commune, Quang Xuong District. With the theme "Solutions for plastic pollution", the Provincial Women's Union called on all cadres, members, women and people in the province in general, Quang Xuong District in particular to actively respond with specific and practical actions, such as: Continuing to effectively implement the campaign "building a family of 5 No, 3 Clean"; the movement "Anti-plastic waste", the program "From collecting scrap to millions of gifts"; building and replicating environmental protection models, including at least 1 specific model on "Anti-plastic pollution". Each cadre, member, and woman is an active, pioneering, exemplary propagandist who implements and encourages relatives to "Say no to single-use plastic products", classifying waste right from the family, at home, at work, at school, at production and business establishments, and in public areas for the health and living environment of the community.

On this occasion, the Provincial Women's Union directed the launch of the model "5 Yes, 3 Clean Family Club" in Thu Loc village, Tien Trang commune, and provided training on Nano biological product production techniques for members participating in the model; Leaders of the Provincial Women's Union and Quang Xuong district presented loudspeakers and trash bins to the branches and households participating in the model; presented 400 plastic lanes to 10 units of the Women's Union of Quang Xuong district that are focusing on building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas, and visited the model of exchanging trash for trees of the Women's Union of Tien Trang commune.

Thanh Hoa strengthens control over the collection, transportation, and treatment of waste and plastic waste, especially in coastal areas.

Also in the activities responding to World Environment Day, Sam Son Border Guard Station coordinated with the Sam Son City Youth Union, Quang Cu Ward Youth Union, Sam Son Environmental Company and 150 officers, lecturers and students of Thai Nguyen University of Technology and Communications to clean more than 1km of beach and present nearly 100 flags to crew members in Quang Cu Ward, Sam Son City. Youth Union members of the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Region 2, under the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, coordinated with the People's Committee of Tinh Hai Ward and Tinh Gia III High School to organize the "Cleaning the Sea" campaign in Tinh Hai Ward, Nghi Son Town.

On the morning of June 5, 2023, at the Mau Lam Commune Hall, the Standing Committee of the District Youth Union coordinated with the People's Committee of Nhu Thanh District to organize the Launching Ceremony in response to World Environment Day, International Day for Biological Diversity and World Ocean Day 2023. At the Launching Ceremony, the Standing Committee of the District Youth Union presented 15 gifts to the Mau Lam Commune Environmental Protection Youth Team. After the Launching Ceremony, more than 80 Mau Lam Commune Youth Union members launched a general environmental cleaning campaign on the main road and environmental black spots in the commune.
