Immediately after the flower offering ceremony, delegates and guests attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Ho Chi Minh City rising with the country through the perspective of cinema" at Lam Son park.
The exhibition introduces more than 200 images selected from documents and film works archived at the Vietnam Film Institute along with many valuable documents provided by the Department of Culture and Sports ; Department of Tourism; Ho Chi Minh City Radio and Television Station and Ho Chi Minh City Cinema Association. The displayed images recreate the filmmaking context, people, life, the process of innovation, integration and development of Saigon-Ho Chi Minh City through each historical period.
The exhibition space is arranged according to 3 periods: Liberation of the South, reunification of the country (1945-1975); construction and development of the country (1976-1985); innovation, integration and development (1986-2025). The highlight of the photo exhibition is the application of mixed reality (MR) technology combined with 360° projection space... creating a multi-sensory experience for visitors.
On the morning of November 21, at the City Theater, the Film Festival Organizing Committee distributed 1,500 free invitations to people to attend the opening ceremony taking place that evening at the outdoor area, Thong Nhat Hall.
On the same afternoon, at 2:00 p.m., at Galaxy Nguyen Du Cinema (No. 116, Nguyen Du Street, Ben Thanh Ward), the opening film screening of the 24th Vietnam Film Festival will take place. The work selected for the opening screening is the film "Red Rain" by director Dang Thai Huyen.
The opening ceremony of the 24th Vietnam Film Festival and the ceremony to receive the UNESCO title “Global Creative City of Cinema” is expected to have about 5,500 delegates and audiences attending. The program will start at 8:00 p.m. at the Thong Nhat Hall and will be broadcast live on Ho Chi Minh City Radio and Television. Before that, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., the red carpet event will take place with the participation of about 1,200 artists and actors from many provinces and cities.
With the theme "Vietnamese Cinema - Sustainable Development and International Integration in the New Era", the opening night promises to bring many emotions through a special art program, with the participation of artists: Meritorious Artist Cao Minh, singers: Tran Thu Ha, Hoang Bach, Duc Phuc, Trong Hieu, Hoang Dung, Anh Tu, Orange, Nguyen Hung, Han Sara, Lamoon... The cast of the films: Red Rain, Death Battle in the Sky, Tunnel: The Sun in the Dark also attended, contributing to creating an exciting atmosphere for the opening event of the Vietnam Film Festival 2025.
