This school year, Van Ho High School, Van Ho district, Son La province has 4 grade 12 classes with over 200 students taking the graduation exam, 100% of students registered for the Social Science exam.

To improve students' knowledge, the school is organizing review sessions. Professional groups and subject teachers compile unified review content according to the instructions of the Departmentof Education and Training, and at the same time develop review plans for students based on the prescribed number of sessions and reasonable amount of knowledge; closely follow the class, and at the same time guide students on how to analyze and quickly handle questions, avoid getting off topic or confusing knowledge. In particular, assign subject teachers and homeroom teachers to monitor, encourage, and provide timely support when students encounter difficulties.

Teacher Nguyen Duc Chinh, Vice Principal of Van Ho High School, Son La Province said: "The students in the school are very self-conscious in studying, diligent in practicing, the teachers are very enthusiastic; the teachers also actively respond to the 150-day review campaign for students; in the morning, afternoon, and evening, in addition to the knowledge taught, the teachers also teach the students to make up for their knowledge. For subjects such as Math, Literature, and English, we try to have at least 40 periods to make up for knowledge, and for the remaining subjects, at least 30 periods."

In addition to reviewing in class during school hours, schools with boarding students also actively review in the evenings on weekdays. Grade 12 students focus on studying in groups, discussing and solving exercises; experienced teachers follow the exam structure to guide their review. For students with weak academic performance, teachers organize 1-on-1 teaching to help them consolidate basic knowledge.

Vi Nhu Buu, a 12A2 student at Van Ho Ethnic Boarding Secondary and High School, said: "I am most worried about English and Math; the subjects I am most confident about are the ones I chose to take the exam for my block: Literature, History, and Geography. Every day, with the dedicated help of teachers and through review sessions, I always focus, try hard, and actively review in the most effective way."

After 5 mock exams, Son La has over 400 students at risk of failing the high school graduation exam, of which over 100 are at high risk. To supplement knowledge for these students, teachers of grades 10 and 11 at schools with students at risk of failing the graduation exam have provided free tutoring, helping them gain more knowledge to confidently enter the exam.

Mr. Vu Viet Hung, Head of Secondary Education - Continuing Education Department, Department of Education and Training of Son La province said: "Through the results of each mock test, the Department of Education has directed schools to analyze the students' test results. With such results, it is necessary to clearly study the students' abilities in each subject. From there, it is possible to help students improve in which subjects to ensure the total score helps them pass the exam".

Consolidating and supplementing missing and weak knowledge for students is an important task in the process of reviewing for the high school graduation exam. The Department of Education and Training of Son La province and schools are being flexible, making every effort, and determined to improve the quality of the 2024 high school graduation exam.
