Staff and teachers of Sa Long Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities check tablets before handing them over to students.

A month ago, Sa Long Primary Boarding School (Muong Cha district) received support from the program "Waves and computers for children" with more than 80 tablets for poor students. This is a priceless gift for students in the disadvantaged areas of Sa Long commune. Because the lives of the people here are difficult, their parents have to worry about every meal, so the dream of having a tablet to serve their studies is too far away. However, the program "Waves and computers for children" has made the dream of students in the highlands of Sa Long come true. Not only serving the study, the tablets also contribute significantly to the implementation of digital transformation in schools.

Master Le Xuan Vy, Principal of Sa Long Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Muong Cha District) shared: “Most of the students in the school are from poor and near-poor households, so their family's economic conditions are very difficult. During the complicated Covid-19 pandemic, the students did not have online learning devices. Fortunately, they received support from the program "Waves and computers for children". Recently, the school continued to receive support with more than 80 tablets. Although they do not have to study online now, teachers and students of the school will effectively use the supported computers, serving the digital transformation process of the school in particular and the entire education sector in general".

Also receiving tablet support like Sa Long Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, in the recent support, Ma Thi Ho Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities (Muong Cha district) received 90 tablets. Teacher Nguyen Trong Oanh, Vice Principal of Ma Thi Ho Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, said: The school currently has 1 central school and 5 village schools with a total of 27 classes and 701 students. The students are all in extremely difficult circumstances and do not have the conditions to purchase technological equipment for their studies. Therefore, the program "Waves and computers for children" is really meaningful, not only helping students have better learning conditions, but also supporting the school to gradually and effectively implement digital transformation in teaching and learning.

Recently, the Departmentof Education and Training of Nam Po district received a total of nearly 2,300 tablets from the program "Waves and computers for children". From that support, in the first phase, the Department of Education and Training of Nam Po district handed over 210 tablets to 13 primary schools and 12 secondary schools; in the second phase to 14 secondary schools and 11 primary schools in the area. Ms. Hoang Thi Bich, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Nam Po district, said: In the complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic, the tablets are extremely important; helping teachers and students of Nam Po district overcome the difficult period in time and complete the school year's program. When the epidemic is under control, students will no longer study online, but each computer will effectively serve teaching and learning in the digital age. Through the tablet, students in remote, border areas such as Nam Po district can connect to the internet, search for information and knowledge. Teachers can also easily implement lessons and use a variety of teaching methods.

Students of Mun Chung Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities (Tuan Giao district) use tablets to look up learning information.

Dien Bien is a locality with many difficulties, so students in remote, isolated and border areas do not have many opportunities to access information technology. The program "Waves and computers for children" has been implemented very practically and meaningfully to support poor students to have better learning conditions. Up to now, Dien Bien province has received cash and materials (tablets, 4G SIM cards), with a total value of nearly 45 billion VND in support from the program "Waves and computers for children". Receiving and using the sponsored resources, the Provincial People's Committee has authorized the Department of Education and Training to mobilize the purchase of 12,497 tablets for 12,497 poor students.

Mr. Nguyen Van Doat, Director of the Department of Education and Training, said: The implementation of the program "Waves and computers for children" is important for the implementation of digital transformation in education. Through it, students can use computers to look up electronic lectures, information on the Internet to serve their studies or online learning; review, participate in competitions, increase interaction on the Internet; develop computer skills, information mining skills, etc. To promote the effectiveness of the program, after handing over tablets to students, the Department of Education and Training has instructed units to assign IT teachers and teachers of other subjects with computer skills or knowledge to organize training, instruct students on how to use and preserve the computers provided. Closely coordinate with parents and guardians in managing students, regularly monitor, urge and remind students to use tablets for the right purposes. Encourage students to exploit and exchange necessary information for study and scientific research; participate in online competitions. Provide instructions on use, maintenance, repair and upgrade procedures for computers for long-term and effective use; comply with regulations on updating and exploiting information on the Internet, cyber security laws as prescribed by law...

The implementation of the program "Waves and computers for children" has contributed significantly to helping the Education and Training sector of Dien Bien province gain more motivation to strive to complete the goal of 100% of schools, teachers, students and pupils being fully equipped with infrastructure, platforms, computers and other means for online teaching and learning, thereby promoting the development of digital society.
