Previously, on June 30, the Department of Health Inspectorate, the Medical Professional Department and the Tan Binh District Health Department inspected and clarified the contents reported at Kangnam Saigon Cosmetic Hospital, located at 666 Cach Mang Thang Tam, Ward 5, Tan Binh District.
Female patient VTH (born in 1977) came to Kangnam Saigon Cosmetic Hospital at 8am on June 29th to have her abdomen fat and excess skin reduced. The patient underwent a general examination, paraclinical examination, pre-anesthesia examination, and pre-surgery consultation.
At 12:00 noon on the same day, the patient was anesthetized by the TTNP doctor and had a total abdominoplasty combined with liposuction performed by the HQH doctor. After more than 4 hours of surgery, at 5:00 pm on June 29, the patient was extubated and transferred to the Department of Plastic Surgery for further treatment.
More than 1 day after surgery, the patient complained of fatigue, difficulty breathing, and the condition gradually worsened. The hospital initiated an internal red alert and contacted Cho Ray Hospital to request professional support. The patient was transferred to Cho Ray Hospital by ambulance. After emergency intervention at Cho Ray Hospital, the patient was temporarily stable again.
During the inspection on July 1, the Health Department Inspector requested the Director of Kangnam Saigon Cosmetic Hospital to temporarily stop performing surgery and procedures on doctor HQH until there is a conclusion from the professional agency.
On July 2, at the meeting of the Special Task Force of the Department of Health, implementing the direction of the Director of the Department of Health, the Inspectorate of the Department of Health issued a document requesting the Director of Kangnam Saigon Cosmetic Hospital to seriously learn from experience in not reporting mandatory medical incidents as prescribed; requesting the hospital to hold a meeting to analyze the root causes, professional errors..., conduct a review and assessment of the conditions and capacity of practitioners, facilities, equipment, medical supplies, compliance with professional regulations and technical procedures of practitioners.
The Department of Health requested the hospital to report the incident and take corrective measures to ensure patient safety related to surgery and procedures.
