Mark Zuckerberg's fortune drops $2.8 billion after Facebook incident

Not long after, Meta spoke up to reassure users and affirmed that the incident was just a "standard technical issue" on the company's part.

"We know people are having trouble accessing Meta services. We're working to resolve the issue right now," Andy Stone, head of communications at Meta, confirmed on social network X shortly after.

At that time, each Meta share was traded at $488 on the Nasdaq (USA), Meta's capitalization decreased by $20 billion, down to $1.225 billion. Previously, Meta shares reached $504 on March 4.

A US government spokesman said the White House National Security Council was monitoring the incident and had not seen any specific malicious cyber activity.

The latest data from Forbes shows that billionaire Mark Zuckerberg's net worth dropped by nearly $2.8 billion yesterday, to $171.9 billion. And the Facebook founder is now in fourth place in the world's richest billionaires ranking.
