Tan Yen Commune Party Committee has chosen a breakthrough in developing high-tech agriculture , organic agricultural production; forming and developing fruit tree and tea growing areas, safe vegetable, root and fruit areas, green roughage for cows; developing high-tech dairy farming.
To concretize the breakthrough, the Commune People's Committee coordinated with the town's specialized agencies to organize training courses, helping farmers access science and technology and apply them to production; introduce new, high-yield plants and breeds into production, focusing on developing key crops such as: Tea, plum, orange, crispy persimmon, biomass corn... The commune's mass organizations coordinated with banks and credit institutions to create conditions for 1,679 households to borrow capital to develop production and business, with a total outstanding debt of over 99 billion VND.
Mr. Dinh Van Thuan, Chairman of Tan Yen Commune People's Committee, said: Taking full advantage of the State's support, the commune has implemented projects and programs, building effective and suitable economic development models, such as: Growing fruit trees on sloping land; growing Queen pineapple; biomass corn and cage fish farming... Currently, the commune is maintaining more than 1,500 hectares of fruit trees; 430 hectares of biomass corn; 80 hectares of vegetables; 20 hectares of mulberry for silkworm farming; 145 fish cages and intensive farming of 271 hectares of tea; the value per agricultural production unit reaches more than 70 million VND/ha; the poverty rate has decreased to 2%.
After 2 years of implementation, the biomass corn growing model in the commune has opened up a new and effective production direction for farmers. From 35 hectares of biomass corn in 2023, of 47 households supported to implement the model, up to now, the whole commune has expanded to more than 430 hectares. Mr. Mui Van Chieng, Na Muong village, Tan Yen commune, said: My family grows 1.6 hectares of biomass corn; participating in the model, we are supported with seeds, materials, planting techniques, care and pest control. Biomass corn has a short harvest time, about 3 months/crop, can be grown 2 crops a year, yield about 23 tons/ha, with an average selling price of nearly 2,000 VND/kg, after deducting costs, earning a profit of nearly 20 million VND/ha.
As a bright spot in developing tea trees and community tourism, Doi village currently has over 100 hectares of tea. Mr. Vi Van An, Party cell secretary and village head, said: The village has cooperated with Tan Lap tea production and trading cooperative, guiding households to apply high-tech tea cultivation processes; supporting fertilizers; committing to purchasing fresh tea buds at stable prices. Thanks to that, tea-growing households in the village are assured to stick with tea trees. In addition, the village also focuses on developing community tourism associated with experiencing tea, plum, and orange gardens, creating jobs and increasing income for the people.
Building economic development models suitable to local conditions is a premise for Tan Yen commune to continue to effectively develop commodity-oriented production, build cooperative and linkage models. At the same time, forming a value chain for agricultural production and consumption, helping people increase their income, contributing to the goal of poverty reduction and implementing the criteria for building new rural areas in the locality.
