Giving 180 gifts to outstanding senior citizens and senior citizens in difficult circumstances

At the Conference, 18 outstanding elderly individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the District People's Committee; the total reward amount was 12,636 million VND. Leaders of the District Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of the district also awarded 180 gifts to outstanding elderly individuals and elderly people in difficult circumstances on the occasion of the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam, each gift included money and gifts worth 700 million VND; the total value of the gifts was 245 million VND.

Launching the Action Month for the Vietnamese Elderly in the district, Ms. Ngo Thi Ngoc Bich, Head of the District Elderly Association Executive Committee, emphasized that the theme of this year's Action Month is "Joining hands to protect, care for and promote the elderly" which is deeply humane and widely spread to the social community, so that all elderly people always receive attention, help, protection and dedicated care. The political system, the Elderly Association at all levels and the whole society promote propaganda, raise awareness and responsibility for caring for the elderly in terms of material, spiritual and health... Create conditions for cadres, members and the elderly to actively contribute their experience and intelligence to participate in building the grassroots political system, developing the socio-economy, ensuring national security and defense, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels, the Resolution of the 6th Congress of the Vietnam Elderly Association and the socio-economic goals of the district.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien respectfully acknowledged the achievements of the Association of the Elderly, departments, branches, sectors; Party committees, authorities and socio-political organizations of the district and wards, contributing to the good implementation of the Party and State's policies on the care of the elderly in the area, saying: In recent years, Party committees, authorities and organizations have always paid special attention to the care and promotion of the role of the elderly. There are 1,233 elderly people receiving social allowances and over 6,000 elderly people being visited, encouraged, and congratulated on their longevity... On the occasion of the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam in 2024, the district assigned the Medical Center and hospitals in the area to examine and provide health care for 2,400 elderly people in especially difficult circumstances, lonely and homeless.

The district leaders also hope that the elderly will continue to promote their roles and responsibilities, set an example in complying with the law, implementing the Party and State's guidelines and policies; and mobilize families and people to join hands in building Hai Ba Trung district, the capital of Hanoi, to develop more and more. Agencies and units continue to improve health care; create conditions for the elderly to participate in cultural, educational, sports, entertainment, tourism, rest and social activities; be given priority when visiting historical and cultural relics, scenic spots, etc. At the same time, encourage the attention of social organizations and individuals to the work of caring for and promoting the role of the elderly.

Propose that 18 wards continue to enhance the responsibility of Party committees and authorities at all levels from wards to residential areas, promote the existing internal strength of the elderly in Party building and government building. Regularly follow the Association's program and tasks, guide and mobilize elderly members to actively participate in emulation movements of the Association and the locality, so that the Association of the Elderly is always an active member in building a strong political system, consolidating the great national unity bloc.
