Enhancing tourism and trade cooperation opportunities between Hanoi and Vientiane

On the afternoon of March 12, the Hanoi - Vientiane 2024 Tourism and Trade Promotion Cooperation Conference took place in Vientiane, Laos.

Attending the program was a high-ranking delegation of Hanoi city led by comrade Dinh Tien Dung, Politburo member, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the city's National Assembly delegation.

On the Lao side, there was comrade Anouphap Tounalom, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Vientiane Capital, along with many representatives of departments, branches, and businesses...

Speaking at the program, Secretary of the Vientiane Party Committee Anouphap Tounalom highly appreciated the Hanoi - Vientiane 2024 tourism and trade promotion program, believing that the program and efforts from the two capitals will create a turning point to strengthen increasingly practical and effective cooperation between Hanoi and Vientiane, contributing to concretizing the policy of expanding increasingly deep cooperation between the two Parties, two States, two peoples, fostering and consolidating the great friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

For his part, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung expressed his hope that through this event, agencies and business communities of both sides will have the opportunity to exchange, learn and establish partnerships. The Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee suggested that units focus on studying and discussing solutions to restore and develop bilateral tourism, enhance the application of digital technology; build promotional campaigns, connect world heritage sites of the two capitals, as well as connect to localities of the two countries; cooperate in researching and developing craft village tourism, creating traditional handicraft products...

According to the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Hanoi currently has 1,350 craft villages and villages with crafts, accounting for 56% of the total number of craft villages in Vietnam, converging 47/52 occupations out of the total number of traditional occupations. Craft village products are diverse, with many types, most of them have beautiful designs, good quality, some have competitive strengths in domestic and foreign markets such as: ceramics, weaving, embroidery, rattan and bamboo weaving, wooden handicrafts, jewelry, lacquerware... Therefore, Hanoi is ready to cooperate with Vientiane on these programs.

Within the framework of the Hanoi - Vientiane 2024 Tourism and Trade Promotion Cooperation Conference, agencies, units and enterprises of the two capitals discussed and agreed to sign Memorandums of Understanding on cooperation: Promoting and advertising tourism and trade between the two cities; cooperating in exploiting tours and tourist routes between Hanoi and Vientiane; cooperating in training and exchanging, instructing traditional occupations, etc.

On the sidelines of the Conference, the “Hanoi City Tourism Promotion and Trade Promotion Space” introduced images and models of tourist destinations and craft villages; displayed tourism products and craft village products associated with tourism... of the two cities of Hanoi and Vientiane to introduce and promote widely to delegates and visitors. In this space, Hanoi displayed typical products such as Bat Trang ceramic products, bronze statues, bronze inlays, wooden and rattan products, lacquer products, jewelry.../.
