At the meeting, Mr. Vu Trung Hoan, Principal of Dien Bien Province Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, said that the selection of the student group to participate in the Summer Camp has been completed. Accordingly, the group includes one administrator, one teacher and 20 outstanding students selected based on criteria of academic performance, ethics, communication skills and cooperation spirit. All students have been equipped with communication skills, understanding of international culture, customs, festivals and social life of the Russian people.
In addition to training sessions on communication etiquette, public behavior and multinational culture, the students also actively practiced performances imbued with national identity such as traditional dances of the Thai and Mong people, and highland folk games such as throwing con, tug of war, bamboo jumping, tu lu, pao throwing... They also learned to perform short plays in Russian and performances combining Vietnamese and Russian culture, demonstrating creativity and the spirit of international friendship.

According to Mr. Vu Trung Hoan, the Summer Camp exchange program between Dien Bien and Saint Petersburg is a vivid demonstration of the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy activities, while contributing to fostering the increasingly strong Vietnam-Russia friendship through the younger generation.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Vyacheslav G. Kalganov, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Saint Petersburg city, said that the delegation of students from Dien Bien province will stay at the dormitory of the Naval Academy during the two weeks of the Summer Camp. He pledged that the city will create all favorable and safe conditions for the students to have a memorable summer in Russia.
On this occasion, the two sides discussed the orientation of long-term cooperation in the field of education and training, especially the organization of internships for Russian language teachers, the development of Russian language teaching programs suitable for high school students as well as sharing experiences in the application of modern educational technology. The Saint Petersburg delegation also introduced a number of advanced technological achievements such as digital laboratory equipment, drones, mini satellites, etc. that can be applied in education and daily life.
Previously, implementing Official Dispatch No. 428/UBND-NC dated February 6, 2025 of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province and Plan No. 188-KH/TU dated January 20, 2025 of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Department of Education and Training of Dien Bien province coordinated with the University of Technology and Friendship Management to organize a Russian language class for 40 students, mainly Thai and Mong ethnic people. The class lasted three months, not only helping students practice the language but also contributing to promoting Vietnamese culture to international friends. |
