According to the Department of Disease Prevention, in Vietnam, the cycle of dengue outbreaks between years tends to be shorter than before, from about 5 years to about 3-4 years in recent years. The most recent dengue outbreak occurred in 2022 with a high number of cases (370,000 cases). Therefore, the risk of an outbreak occurring in 2025 is very high if localities do not implement drastic measures to prevent the disease from the beginning of the epidemic season.
Currently, our country has entered the peak season of dengue fever, with hot and humid weather and heavy rain, creating favorable conditions for mosquitoes to develop and transmit the disease. The number of cases has increased locally in some localities, especially in the Southern region (accounting for more than 70% of the total cases nationwide).

As of week 23 of 2025, some provinces recorded a high increase in the number of cases compared to the same period in 2024, specifically: Ben Tre (old, up 346.5%), Tay Ninh (old, up 274.3%), Long An (old, up 208.6%), Dong Nai (old, up 191.7%), Ho Chi Minh City (up 151.4%). In the coming time, it is possible that the number of dengue fever cases will continue to increase in localities across the country due to the peak of the dengue fever epidemic.
To proactively prevent dengue fever, the Ministry of Health requires localities to focus on strengthening communication work; direct localities to actively deploy campaigns to eradicate mosquito larvae and larva at peak times in the last months of the year, maintain them regularly and continuously; build and maintain a team of collaborators and shock troops in disease prevention and control; monitor, detect early and thoroughly handle outbreaks right from the time the first case is detected...

According to statistics from the Provincial Center for Disease Control, as of July 10 (week 28), the number of dengue fever cases in the province has increased and 1 death has been recorded (in Dong Phu commune). The Provincial Center for Disease Control assessed that the dengue fever epidemic situation is complicated, the weather is changing erratically compared to previous years, and it is currently the rainy season. In addition, people are still subjective in the prevention and control of dengue fever. Therefore, the risk of dengue fever outbreaks in localities in the province is very high.
The provincial Center for Disease Control recommends that regional health centers closely monitor the local situation weekly, review communes/wards with outbreaks to develop timely epidemic suppression plans; strengthen communication work, monitor and promptly handle outbreaks, expand the scope of outbreak handling, ensure that the outbreak does not spread and prolong...
