On October 30th, the State Bank of Vietnam - Quang Binh Branch announced that, in order to effectively implement the State and provincial policy on "cashless development," the State Bank of Vietnam - Quang Binh Branch has coordinated with the People's Committee of Dong Hoi City to develop a plan to "Deploy QR Code payment coverage throughout Dong Hoi City."
According to Mr. Hoang Ngoc Dan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Hoi City, the plan aims to create a positive shift in cashless payments in general and QR Code payments in particular, making them a habit for people, businesses, households, and small traders in the city, reducing social costs associated with cash.
Mr. Luong Hai Luu, Deputy Director in charge of the State Bank of Vietnam - Quang Binh Branch, said that in the current era of Industry 4.0, cashless payment is becoming an inevitable trend due to its many clear benefits for people, businesses, and the economy . Therefore, payment via QR Code is a new payment solution that is attracting attention from many authorities, experts, and the public.
Accordingly, the plan's objectives for deploying QR Code payment coverage throughout Dong Hoi City by June 30, 2024, are: over 90% of residents aged 15 and above having bank accounts; 100% of businesses, households, small traders, and goods and service providers having QR Code payment acceptance points; increasing access to payment services and increasing the number of QR Code payment acceptance points to over 12,000; and achieving a growth rate of over 40% per year in the number and value of QR Code payment transactions.
