The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway Project has a total investment of more than VND 20,400 billion, with a length of 88 km, passing through Quang Ngai (60.3 km) and Binh Dinh (27.7 km). This is the largest project among 12 component projects. On the route, there are 3 tunnels through the mountains including: Tunnel No. 1 is 610 m long, Tunnel No. 2 is 698 m long and Tunnel No. 3 is 3,200 m long, along with 77 bridges, 586 culverts, and 81 underpasses for people.

To ensure the project is completed by the end of 2025, the contractor said that the entire project is currently implementing 50 construction teams, with 1,450 machines, vehicles and about 3,450 engineers and workers at the construction site.

Up to now, the main route has basically completed the embankment work, including asphalt paving, completing 13 km. The 3 mountain tunnel items are important items, playing a key role in ensuring the overall progress of the entire project. Currently, tunnels No. 1 and No. 2 have been completed, the contractor is installing electromechanical equipment, and the intelligent traffic control system. Tunnel No. 3 has now dug through the right tunnel branch (North - South direction), 6 months ahead of schedule. The left tunnel branch is currently about 270 m long, expected to be dug through next July.

Head of the North Command of Tunnel No. 3, Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh said that there are currently more than 700 engineers, workers and hundreds of machines and equipment working in shifts 24/7 at the tunnel. Despite many difficulties, to ensure the technical and project progress, the unit has implemented many solutions such as dividing the blasting area into many small mirrors to reduce vibration, limit risks and organize construction flexibly to control progress.

At the same time, monitoring work was also enhanced, closely monitoring deformation and displacement parameters of structures. Technical milestones were also reviewed and strictly inspected to ensure absolute accuracy. "After the tunnel was dug through, the contractor continued to expand the excavation, lower the foundation, concrete the tunnel lining... according to the plan to complete the concrete lining of 2 tunnels in October, install equipment and complete tunnel number 3 by the end of December", said Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh.

For 77 bridges on the route, 70 bridges have been installed with girders and decks constructed. Song Ve Bridge - the longest on the route - has basically completed construction and is ready to be paved with asphalt when approved by the investor.

Mr. Ngo Truong Nam, General Director of Deo Ca Group, said that in order to contribute to the Government 's goal of having 3,000 km of expressway nationwide by 2025, construction units are making efforts to focus resources on construction "3 shifts, 4 teams, through the night, through holidays" to speed up progress.

"Determining this is the right time to speed up progress, the unit has mobilized human resources from other projects to the construction site to speed up construction, aiming to reach the project's finish line on schedule according to the Prime Minister 's direction," said the General Director of Deo Ca Group.

Recently, at the inspection of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway construction site, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Viet Hung affirmed that this is a large-scale project, the implementation process requires a large area of ​​land and a large volume of construction materials, so many problems often arise.

"Quang Ngai province continues to pay attention to and properly resolve the contractors' recommendations, contributing to speeding up the progress of the entire project. In addition, the contractor and project investor need to coordinate well and accompany the locality in removing obstacles, promptly clearing bottlenecks in material mines, and remaining site locations, ensuring the completion and putting into operation of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway before December 31," the Deputy Minister suggested.
