Chinese beauty Zhang Miaoyi beat out 20,000 candidates to play the lead role in the movie "Dream of the Red Chamber".

The film was filmed in 2018, when Miao Di was 20 years old. According to Ifeng , at that time, the female student surpassed about 20,000 candidates to play the character. She underwent nine months of training in style, music , dialogue, dancing... before taking on the role. According to Sina, Dream of the Red Chamber - a Chinese classic - is one of the most published books of all time. The story was written during the Qing Dynasty, revolving around the love story of Jia Baoyu and Lin Daiyu, thereby describing the life of a large aristocratic family from its peak to its decline.
There have been many television and film adaptations of the novel, the most famous being the one starring Chen Xiaoxu in 1987. In the film, Lin Daiyu wears more than 40 outfits, each outfit is styled differently by a makeup artist and has different hair and accessories. Lin Daiyu's hairstyle is inspired by the ancient lily bun hairstyle, so in many scenes, the character's hair looks like a flower.
