On the morning of November 19, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc met with President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Milos Vystrcil, within the framework of an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
At the reception, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc expressed his pleasure when President of the Czech Senate Milos Vystrcil chose Ho Chi Minh City as the first destination of his visit, demonstrating his respect for the role, potential and economic and foreign position of the City.
He believes that the visit will contribute to strengthening the traditional friendship, creating a strong impetus to promote Vietnam-Czech relations and cooperation between the Czech Republic and Ho Chi Minh City in the new period.
Emphasizing the special significance of the visit taking place on the occasion of the two countries' 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (1950-2025), Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said this is the time when the two sides continue to create new milestones in cooperation.

Notably, during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit to the Czech Republic in January 2025, the two Prime Ministers agreed to upgrade bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership, opening a comprehensive and extensive cooperation framework in key areas such as economics-trade, defense-security, clean energy, science-technology, education-training, etc.
The Czech Republic is currently an important partner of Vietnam in Europe, with two-way trade turnover reaching over 2 billion USD per year. Many areas of cooperation between the two countries continue to record positive progress such as manufacturing industry, environmental technology, healthcare-pharmaceuticals, education-training, science-technology and people-to-people exchange.
There are currently about 100,000 Vietnamese people living in the Czech Republic. Notably, since 2013, the Vietnamese Czechs have been officially recognized as the 14th ethnic minority in the country. This is a vivid demonstration of the friendship and deep integration between the two communities.
Discussing the direction of cooperation, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc said that the Czech Republic's strengths in the fields of high technology, mechanical engineering, green energy and environment, healthcare, education and training, high-tech agriculture... are completely consistent with the city's development strategy, especially the goal of building a high-tech industry, promoting semiconductor-electronic clusters, robotization and upgrading the production value chain.
Cooperation with Czech enterprises in manufacturing machinery, automation and industrial equipment will contribute to supporting the city in accelerating production modernization, improving competitiveness and attracting high-quality investment in industrial parks and high-tech zones.
In the field of sustainable energy, the two sides have much room to expand research cooperation and academic exchanges.
"Ho Chi Minh City hopes to be a reliable destination for Czech businesses. The city's leaders are ready to create all favorable conditions for Czech businesses and investors to come and learn, invest and cooperate in areas where both sides have similar needs. We believe that the cooperation orientations will contribute to deepening the Vietnam-Czech relationship, bringing practical benefits to businesses and people of the two countries," said Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc.

Expressing his pleasure to visit and work in Ho Chi Minh City, Czech Senate President Milos Vystrcil assessed that the relationship between the two countries over the past 75 years has been a long journey of close cooperation based on trust, sharing and similarities in the history of the struggle for independence and freedom, as well as the aspiration for security and prosperity.
Mr. Milos Vystrcil affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City is the most dynamic and prosperous locality in Vietnam, so many Czech enterprises wish to seek investment opportunities, promote trade and boost import-export turnover based on the traditional relationship between the two countries.
Regarding bilateral cooperation, Czech Senate President Milos Vystrcil proposed that businesses of both sides should increase exchanges, cooperation, and mutual support, especially in the fields of information technology and artificial intelligence (AI).
Czech enterprises wish to boost exports to Vietnam and seek investment opportunities in the fields of energy, technology, automobile industry...
In the immediate future, the Czech Republic will promote the reopening of the Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. The Czech Embassy and relevant agencies will increase exchanges, introduce and promote products and services to attract the Vietnamese business community and people, thereby promoting bilateral economic cooperation and deepening relations between the two countries.
On the same afternoon, President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Milos Vystrcil visited and talked with students of Ton Duc Thang University (Ho Chi Minh City)./.
