A ship has run aground in the Suez Canal in Egypt, leaving at least four other ships behind.
The British news agency Reuters quoted a source from the shipping company Leth Agencies on May 25 as saying that tugboats had been mobilized to rescue the stranded Xin Hai Tong 23. Sharing on Twitter, Leth Agencies said the Xin Hai Tong 23 ran aground in the early morning of the same day, causing some ships scheduled to pass through the strait on the morning of May 25 to be stuck behind. Meanwhile, data from the shipping tracking network Marine Traffic and Refinitiv showed that the Hong Kong-flagged ship (China) lost control at the southern tip of the canal.
The Suez Canal Authority has not made an official announcement about the incident.
