Central Highlands proactively responds to heavy rain, risk of flash floods and landslides

According to the bulletin from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from August 19 to August 21, 2023, the Central Highlands region will have heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain over 150mm, with a risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas.

To proactively respond and minimize damage caused by heavy rain and the risk of flash floods and landslides, especially in areas that have experienced heavy rain in recent times, the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control requested the Steering Committees for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of the Central Highlands provinces to closely monitor forecasts and warnings, and promptly inform authorities and people at all levels to proactively prevent, especially in areas that have experienced heavy rain, flash floods and landslides in recent times.

Deploy shock forces to inspect and review residential areas along rivers, streams, low-lying areas, and areas at high risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides to proactively organize the relocation and evacuation of people to safety.

Direct the inspection and review of plans to ensure the safety of reservoirs, especially small hydroelectric reservoirs and important irrigation reservoirs; arrange standing forces to be ready to handle possible situations.

Ready forces and means for rescue when requested.

Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam , Vietnam News Agency and other media agencies have increased reporting on developments of heavy rain to authorities at all levels and people to proactively prevent it.

Organize on-duty seriously and regularly report to the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the Office of the National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response and Search and Rescue.
