According to SF, Russia has launched two missile and drone attacks on the Zaporozhye and Kharkiv regions of Ukraine, causing heavy damage.
The first attack was in Zaporozhye. Video posted on social media showed large explosions in an industrial zone where the Motor Sich and Ivchenko-Progress factories are located.
Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the We are with Russia movement, later confirmed that at least the Motor Sich plant had been hit by a missile.
“According to preliminary information, explosions occurred in the city of Zaporozhye, temporarily occupied by Ukrainian forces. The type of missile used in this attack was Iskander. At least the industrial complex of the Motor Sich enterprise was attacked,” Mr. Rogov shared on his Telegram channel.
Other Russian sources and Ukrainian media said the attack on Zaporozhye was carried out with Iskander-K ground-launched cruise missiles.
The second wave of attacks targeted Kharkiv. Videos posted online showed a large fire and secondary explosions near the city after the attack, suggesting that the target was an ammunition depot.
Russian sources later said the attack destroyed a large ammunition depot of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, where Kiev forces stored ammunition for Czech-made RM-70 Vampir multiple rocket launchers. Ukrainian media reported that the attack caused several casualties.
Kiev forces revealed that the attack was carried out using Kh-101/555 air-launched cruise missiles and Geran-1/2 suicide drones.
The attacks on Zaporozhye and Kharkiv were likely carried out by the Russian military in response to a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on five regions in Russia early on April 5.
Russia struck two targets in the Zaporozhye and Kharkiv regions, aimed at reducing Ukraine’s ability to attack Russian territory. Motor Sich is a factory that produces engines for drones, cruise missiles that are sometimes used in attacks on Russia, and RM-70 missiles that are frequently fired across the border.
