This is information announced by online travel platform Agoda on the afternoon of January 23. Accordingly, Asian tourists are tending to travel to Vietnam, especially during the Lunar New Year, thanks to its beautiful landscape, diverse culture and famous cuisine .

In the list of top 5 destinations in the region, besides Vietnam, there are also Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

For international visitors to Vietnam during the Lunar New Year, South Korean tourists topped the rankings, surpassing Chinese, Singaporean and Japanese visitors. Agoda predicts that this will be a vibrant Tet season for Vietnam's tourism industry.

According to Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, Director of Agoda in Vietnam, the diverse selection of favorite destinations shows a rich picture of the experiences that tourists seek during the festive season.

In Ho Chi Minh City alone, the tourism industry expects to welcome about 122,000 international visitors this Tet holiday, with room occupancy estimated at 90% or higher. Revenue is estimated at 15,000 billion VND.

Not only international visitors, Vietnamese visitors are also getting ready to enjoy the upcoming Tet holiday.

This year, Da Lat has proven its appeal by becoming the top domestic destination with hill resorts attracting the most Vietnamese tourists, surpassing famous coastal cities such as Nha Trang, Da Nang and Phan Thiet. Ho Chi Minh City is in the top 5 and ranked 4th in terms of room bookings during this holiday.

According to the reporter, the tourism industry in Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country is currently busy preparing for the festival season to welcome domestic and international visitors. At the recently held Vietnamese Tet Festival 2024, with a series of unique activities from 150 booths, it attracted more than 90,000 domestic and foreign visitors to visit and experience.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, representative of the organizer of the 2024 Vietnamese Tet Festival, said that the event affirms its potential to become an annual cultural and tourism event of the city, contributing to preserving and promoting traditional customs, practices, and rituals, imbued with the cultural identity of the nation as well as contributing to positioning the Ho Chi Minh City tourism brand.
