The Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter will open the program "Vietnamese Tet - Street Tet 2024" on January 28 at Kim Ngan Communal House, 42-44 Hang Bac, Hoan Kiem District (Hanoi) on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024.

According to the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter, in the program "Vietnamese Tet - Street Tet 2024", the relics and cultural spaces in Hanoi Old Quarter will be "rich" with the traditional Tet flavor with activities such as erecting poles, decorating the 12 zodiac animals, introducing the Tet space of Hanoi people, displaying calligraphy, and performing traditional arts.
During the opening ceremony of the activities taking place on January 28, the Organizing Committee will perform a procession, offer gifts at the communal house gate and erect a pole, two special activities of the program.
Deputy Head of the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board Tran Thuy Lan said that the Organizing Committee tries to introduce the traditional Tet characteristics of Hanoians that are different from other regions. People and tourists will feel the sophistication, elegance and grace in the cultural lifestyle and traditional Tet customs. Many activities in the program "Vietnamese Tet - Street Tet 2024" will be aimed at young people so that they can better understand traditional cultural values and contribute to preserving and promoting those heritage values.
Specifically, the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board coordinated with cultural researchers to organize a procession from the Heritage House at 87 Ma May, passing through many streets and relics with the destination being Kim Ngan Communal House. Here, the Organizing Committee will conduct rituals including offering offerings at the communal house gate, reporting to the tutelary god and worshiping the profession's ancestors... along with the traditional pole-raising ceremony of the Vietnamese people when Tet comes and Spring comes. The space of Kim Ngan Communal House is decorated into a traditional Tet space with the theme of the 12 zodiac animals and the zodiac animal of 2024 - the Dragon.
Researchers and cultural experts will have a talk about Tet of the Tay and Nung people; about the hobby of growing daffodils... Those who are interested in learning about Tet of the ancient Hanoians can visit the Heritage House at 87 Ma May. The Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter will arrange and organize an introduction to the living space and Tet celebration of an ancient Hanoi family. In addition, there will be a session of wrapping and boiling banh chung for everyone to visit and experience on February 3.
At the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center, 50 Dao Duy Tu, there will be a re-enactment of the traditional Tet space of the Northern Delta region with the theme "Old Houses" and an exhibition of paintings, ceramics, etc. with the theme of the zodiac animal of 2024, traditional music performances and discussions on the traditional Tet of the Vietnamese people.
Other cultural addresses in the old quarter such as the Cultural and Artistic Center, No. 22 Hang Buom Street; Dong Lac Communal House, No. 38 Hang Dao Street; Old Quarter Heritage Information Center, No. 28 Hang Buom Street... have also become addresses to introduce Vietnamese culture, flower collecting, and Tet customs.
From January 25 to February 9 (ie December 15 to December 30 of the year of the Cat), at Phung Hung mural space, artisans and craftsmen will introduce traditional folk products, such as Hang Trong, Kim Hoang, Dong Ho folk paintings, calligraphy, ceramics, bamboo and rattan weaving, to he toys...
