Conquer the high mountain peaks of Northern Vietnam.
March is the ideal time for hiking in the northern mountains to admire flowers, especially rhododendrons. Rhododendrons have thick, straight petals, long pistils, and are shrubs or trees with thick leaves, both single and double, in vibrant colors such as red, pink, white, and yellow. The top mountain peaks in the North with abundant rhododendrons include Putaleng, Bach Moc Luong Tu, Fansipan, Ta Xua, and Samu. Among them, Putaleng in Lai Chau is known as the "Rhododendron Paradise".
To see the beautiful rhododendron blossoms, visitors can choose two-day-one-night or three-day-two-night (depending on the peak) hiking trails to both conquer the mountain and admire the flowers while still having time to rest and recover. Visitors should find a local guide or purchase a package tour to ensure safety. In March, there are still many opportunities to see clouds on the peaks.
Taking photos during the kapok flower season.
In late March, kapok flowers (also known as cottonwood flowers) bloom in many northern provinces and cities such as Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Giang, Ha Nam, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, and Hanoi.
The kapok flower is a vibrant red, with large blossoms featuring five thick, wide-spreading petals. Kapok trees are typically not planted close together, yet they bloom profusely at the same time. The kapok flower also signals a new beginning, as the cold spells subside and warm, sunny days arrive.
