The Vietnamese women's team defeated Korea 3-2 at the Asian Volleyball Championship a month ago. In the rematch at ASIAD 19, with the same squad, the two teams once again created a thrilling match that lasted for 5 games.
The Vietnamese women's team had a bad start when they lost the first two sets. The Vietnamese team's defense was ineffective. In addition, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's players made many unreasonable decisions or made mistakes, leading to unfortunate losses of points.

In this match, the main scorers of Korea were Park Jeong-ah and Kang So-hwi. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese team relied heavily on Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and the breakthrough situations of Tran Thi Bich Thuy. The good performance of this duo was one of the important factors for the Vietnamese women's team to turn the situation around.
In the next two games, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's players significantly improved their defensive ability. The Vietnamese women's team played more focused and calm, making fewer mistakes. That helped Thanh Thuy and her teammates win two games in a row with the same score of 25-22 and bring the match to the deciding set.

In the fifth game, the Vietnamese team showed a strong mentality. It was the Korean team that made more mistakes. Thanh Thuy and her teammates continuously led. The key point of the match was the moment when the Vietnamese team had to appeal, asking for video to reclaim the score of 14-11. After that, Tran Tu Linh scored the decisive point to help the Vietnamese team win the match.
The Vietnamese team successfully appealed for an in-court ball, winning 14-11 in set 5.
Defeating South Korea with a score of 3-2 (16-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-11), the Vietnamese team topped Group C and became the first team to qualify for the next round in the women's volleyball event. In the second round, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team will be in the same group with the teams of Group A, most likely China and North Korea.
