Thanh Ha requests strict handling of cases of illegal tomb construction

People bought land to build a wall around the Dong Giam area (Cam Viet commune) to prepare for building a tomb.

The Chairman of Thanh Ha District People's Committee has requested communes and towns to perform well in land management, regularly inspect and strictly handle land violations within their authority, especially violations of illegal tomb construction.

Resolutely handle violations; in case of non-compliance, enforce according to authority. Assign officers and civil servants to monitor the area to grasp the situation and promptly detect violations.

It is strictly forbidden to establish cemeteries, graveyards, burial grounds, build zoning to occupy land, arbitrarily change the purpose of using cemetery land, and illegally buy and sell land for graves.

Specialized agencies coordinate with communes and towns to proactively plan and expand cemetery land to serve the burial and reburial of people, in accordance with the land use planning for the period 2021-2030. Review and handle the responsibilities of cadres and civil servants under their management who are assigned tasks but are lax in managing the area and are irresponsible in performing their duties, leading to violations related to the land sector.

In any locality where violations occur, depending on the nature and severity of the violation, the Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune or town will be considered for disciplinary action.

Localities develop regulations for the management and use of cemeteries and graveyards. Propaganda and mobilization of people to stop the practice of arbitrary burials and cremations outside the approved planning of cemeteries and concentrated cemeteries.

Previously, at the end of November, more than 20 households in the old Viet Hong commune (now merged with Cam Che commune to form Cam Viet commune) took advantage of the time when the commune was focusing on merging commune-level administrative units, loosened management, and arbitrarily bought agricultural land to build walls to surround the area and build large-scale graves.

In these cases, the Chairman of Thanh Ha District People's Committee requested Cam Viet Commune to promptly handle violations according to its authority. In cases where the land is not self-dismantled and restored to its original state, enforcement will be organized to remedy the consequences according to the provisions of law. If there is no definitive solution, the Chairman of Cam Viet Commune People's Committee must be responsible to the Chairman of the District People's Committee.
