Thanh Mien recruits enough quantity and improves quality of young people joining the army

Thanh Mien has 301 young men eligible for military service, reaching 52%, 8% higher than the average of the whole province.

According to the Thanh Mien District Military Command, Thanh Mien District's military recruitment in 2024 encountered some difficulties because many young people of military age went to work far away, worked in businesses, studied at universities and colleges, etc. Many citizens of military age had refractive errors. Meanwhile, the local military recruitment target in 2024 increased by 10 people compared to the previous year.

To ensure the quantity and quality of the army, Thanh Mien district has promptly directed communes and towns to proactively implement steps in the selection and calling of young people to join the army. The work of reviewing and classifying sources is focused on, clearly understanding who is present in the locality, who is working far away, who is moving to do military service to study at universities and colleges... With the motto "whoever is recruited is sure", localities are determined to do a good job of preliminary selection from the beginning to select qualified soldiers.

Chi Lang Nam commune is a bright spot in the work of selecting and calling citizens to join the army in Thanh Mien district in 2024. The locality has mobilized the entire political system to participate, stepping up propaganda to create a clear change in the awareness of the people and young people of military age.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Minh, Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Committee of Chi Lang Nam Commune, said: "The steps in the process of selecting and calling citizens to join the army are carried out by the locality publicly, democratically and in accordance with the law. In cases where people go to work far away, the commune government sends early notices to the families, coordinates with the families to propagate and mobilize young people to return to their localities to perform military service."

As a result, Chi Lang Nam commune had 33 young men who were eligible for district-level medical examination, 100% of whom came for medical examination as required. Of these, 18 young men were eligible for military service, reaching 54.5%. The locality also had 11 young men who volunteered to join the army, typically Vu Tu Anh.

Anh Tu Anh has just passed the entrance exam to Hanoi University of Science and Technology but has asked to postpone his admission with the desire to fulfill his duty to the Fatherland. In the recent district-level health examination, he is eligible for military service.

Improve quality

According to the Provincial Military Command, in 2024, Thanh Mien district had 578 young people eligible for district-level medical examination, the rate of young people coming for medical examination reached 100%. Of these, 301 young people were eligible to join the army, reaching 52%, 8% higher than the average of the whole province.

Many localities in the district have a high rate of young people eligible for military service, such as Hong Phong commune with over 66%, Thanh Mien town with 59.5%, Chi Lang Nam commune with over 54.5%...

Previously, in 2023, Thanh Mien district also had a high rate of young people eligible for military service compared to the general rate of the province. Thereby, it is affirmed that the locality always focuses on improving the quality of the work of selecting and calling citizens to join the army.

In order to achieve high results in the medical examination, the District Military Service Council has prepared facilities, medical examination locations, arranged diagrams and guides to complete procedures, and resolved issues related to the medical examination in a scientific and effective manner.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Pham Minh Hoa, Deputy Commander of the Thanh Mien District Military Command, in recent times, the Party Committees and authorities at all levels of Thanh Mien District have closely led and directed, mobilized the participation of the entire political system, and successfully completed the work of selecting and calling citizens to join the army. Many localities in the district have done a good job of propaganda, arousing the awareness and responsibility of young people in performing military service. Thanks to that, in 2024, Thanh Mien District had 184 young people writing applications to volunteer for military service.

After the medical examination, the Thanh Mien District Military Service Council synthesized and organized the review of citizen records; organized the "3 meetings, 4 knowledge" infiltration and finalized the number of military enlistments for 2024 with the Military Service Councils of communes and towns according to regulations. Up to now, 100% of the eligible young men of Thanh Mien District are ready for military service.
