At noon on December 17, more than 100 people living near Tran Van Thanh Monument Park (Cai Dau town, Chau Phu district, An Giang province) suddenly discovered a shirtless young man in his 30s stuck in an iron pillar of decorative LED lights in the park.

This iron pillar is nearly 10m high, with a diameter just wide enough for one person to stand.

Although the local people guided him outside, the young man remained standing inside for many hours.

Upon receiving the news, a working group of Chau Phu District Police arrived and used a machine to cut the iron bars to bring the person out.

Locals said that the young man had previously climbed up the iron pillar to get inside.

Speaking to Dan Tri newspaper reporter, Mr. Pham Thanh Hung, Chief of Cai Dau town police, said the young man was acting abnormally. He was not a local.

"This person was then taken to the health care headquarters. After finding relevant information, the local authorities took the young man home many kilometers away from the scene," Mr. Hung said.
