On July 16, the South Korean city of Seoul will open “Sky Suite,” a special accommodation space with a panoramic view of the Han River, the symbol of Seoul.

The Seoul government announced that “Sky Suite” is part of the “Great Han River Project” developed by the city.

This is an accommodation space created by collaborating with Airbnb (a platform for booking and renting rooms and apartments around the world ) to upgrade the Jiknyeo cafe on the Hangang Bridge across the Han River.

The 144.13m2 “Sky Suite” project includes a bedroom, living room, bathroom, kitchenette and can accommodate up to four guests. The most valuable point of the “Sky Suite” is a super large glass window on the southwest side of the bedroom, allowing guests to gaze out and see the Han River stretching from Nodeul Island to Yeouido.

The ceiling of the living room is also made of transparent glass so that guests can enjoy the view of Seoul's night sky.

“Sky Suite” will be managed by Sanha HM Limited Company, a company with experience and know-how in operating hotels such as Ramada and Militopia.

Reservations for the “Sky Suite” will be open from July 1 on Airbnb with prices ranging from 345,000 to 500,000 won.

With the opening of “Sky Suite,” Seoul plans to hold regular promotional events with Airbnb to promote Seoul’s charm to the world.

The hotel is expected to attract many foreign tourists when various festivals are held on both sides of the Han River, such as the world fireworks festival held in Yeouido every October, and events related to Nodeul Island, which is being developed as a global art island.

Along with the opening of “Sky Suite,” Seoul also plans to develop water-based tourism accommodation facilities so that people can enjoy a unique experience while staying above the Han River.

A four-story, 200-room “water hotel” is planned to be built around the Mulbit stage in Yeouido Hangang Park.

Meanwhile, an “urban marina” will be built in Jamsil, where a cruise terminal will accommodate about 50 small yachts.

Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon said the Han River is an attractive space where the history and future of Seoul and Korea blend, but its potential has not yet been fully exploited, especially in areas on the water like some other developed countries.

Therefore, the Seoul government hopes that by opening “Sky Suite,” the city can promote the charming beauty of the Han River and Seoul to the world./.
