'Common home' of journalists

Over 36 years (March 25, 1989 - March 25, 2025) of formation and development, the Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA) of Long An province has continuously grown, affirming its role as a center for gathering, uniting, and promoting the intellectual strength of journalists in performing well their assigned tasks, thereby making many positive contributions to the cause of building and developing the homeland.

Trusted support for members

In recent years, despite facing many difficulties and challenges due to no staff, no quota; no affiliated departments or offices; no full-time Vice President, the Vietnam Association of Journalists in the province has always affirmed its role as a reliable support for its members. Every year, the Vietnam Association of Journalists in the province coordinates and cooperates with relevant agencies to organize full training classes to disseminate directives and resolutions of the Party and State to 100% of members, journalists, and reporters of press agencies in the province. Thereby, it directly impacts the political and ideological awareness of the press, strengthens trust, and creates unity in the will and actions of each person in performing their duties.

In addition to strengthening ideologicaleducation and improving political capacity, the Vietnam Journalists Association of the province regularly coordinates to organize many training activities and professional development for journalists. Journalist Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga ( Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television) said: “Every year, the Vietnam Journalists Association of the province coordinates to organize training and professional development for journalists in the province on print, visual, audio and electronic newspapers. In particular, in recent years, the Association has focused on training in modern journalism skills to make journalistic works more attractive and appealing.”

To carry out the sacred “mission” of journalism, the Vietnam Provincial Press Association actively innovates and is creative in carrying out the tasks assigned by the Central Government and the Provincial People's Committee. Through each work, the press agencies in the province always diversify the forms of information transmission to bring the Party's resolutions into life; serving the leadership of the Party, the administration of the State and the information needs of the people.

Established on March 25, 1989, the Vietnam Journalists Association of the province has continuously grown and increased in number. Currently, the province has 179 members active in 5 Journalists Associations (JACs) and 1 affiliated club including: JACs of Long An Newspaper; JACs of Long An Radio and Television Station; JACs of Arts and Literature News; JACs of District, Town and City Radio Stations; JACs of the Association Office and the Press Photo Club.

Diversified press "playgrounds"

In recent years, the press "playground" has become increasingly diverse, the competitions have been organized scientifically and closely; the scale has been expanded, in line with the development of modern society and journalism. The entries have been increasingly improved in quality and quantity with many rich and truthful topics on issues of public interest. Every year, the Provincial Press Awards attract hundreds of authors who are students, journalists, reporters, and collaborators inside and outside the province to participate in 4 categories of journalism and photojournalism.

Having participated in the Provincial Press Awards for many years, reporter Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan - Tan Tru District Center for Culture, Information and Broadcasting, has felt the changes over the years of this useful playground. Reporter Kim Ngan shared: "Over time, the way the Provincial Press Awards are organized has become more professional. In addition to evaluating and summarizing the entries, the Organizing Committee also calls for and launches a new season to attract everyone to participate. After each season, I find myself more mature in the way I exploit topics and write. I am nervous and overwhelmed with emotion when my "brainchild" is called. What is special is that in recent years, the Provincial Press Awards Ceremony has been broadcast live, solemnly, practically, spreading deeply and widely, creating a deep impression on cadres, party members and people".

As the standing body of the Award Council, the Vietnam Provincial Journalists Association always promotes publicity, fairness, accuracy, objectivity, honesty, quality and efficiency in selecting the best works to award first, second, third prizes and encouragement for each category. It can be affirmed that the press "playground" has contributed to promoting the emulation movement of creative labor of the press team; at the same time, aiming to discover and nurture talented journalists and reporters for the provincial press.

Every year, the Vietnam Provincial Journalism Association also organizes the selection of typical press works of the province to participate and has won high prizes at the National Press Awards, regional press awards and press awards organized by ministries and branches. At the same time, the Association also deploys and implements the Project to Support Quality Press Works; invests and selects typical works of the year. In addition, the Association publishes 2 special issues including: Spring Issue and the issue commemorating Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day .

One of the attractive "playgrounds" for journalists is the Spring Newspaper Festival. This is an activity chaired and coordinated by the Vietnam National Newspaper Association. Accordingly, spring newspapers and magazines of the Central and local governments will be displayed and exhibited at the Spring Newspaper Festival. At the same time, the Association also organizes an exhibition of press news photos and art photos "My homeland Long An". Every year, this activity attracts a large number of journalists, officials, party members and people to come and see the exhibition.

In recent times, in addition to performing well the tasks assigned by the Central and the Provincial People's Committee, the Vietnam National Union of Journalists has also actively carried out many social security activities: Awarding scholarships to students in difficult circumstances; giving houses to students with housing difficulties;... In particular, the Vietnam National Union of Journalists has for many years maintained coordination with press agencies in the province to mobilize sponsoring units to organize visits to places of worship and give gifts to relatives of 19 families of martyr journalists in the province.

According to the Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association of the province, Editor-in-Chief of Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station - Le Hong Phuoc, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, the Vietnam Journalists Association of the province will organize many meaningful activities: Publishing the issue commemorating the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day; organizing exhibitions, displays, and introducing the achievements of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press and Long An Provincial Press associated with important events of the country; compiling the History of Long An Press on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day; organizing activities to repay gratitude, return to the source; meeting to express gratitude to generations of journalists through the periods. Especially, coordinating to well organize the Ceremony to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.

In the coming time, together with the political system, the province's press agencies will continue to promote the tradition of "Loyalty and steadfastness, the whole people fight the enemy", the spirit of solidarity, innovation and creativity, well perform assigned tasks, contribute to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress with the highest results, together with the whole country entering a new era - the era of national growth./.
