Many industrial parks in Hai Phong attract workers from Hai Duong

With its adjacent location and convenient infrastructure, Hai Duong province is becoming a stable source of labor supply for industrial parks in Hai Phong.

Hai Duong workers account for 20 - 30%

In recent years, industrial parks in Hai Phong have continuously expanded in scale and increased investment attraction, especially from large industrial corporations.

Industrial parks such as Trang Due, Nhat Ban (An Duong), VSIP (Thuy Nguyen), Nam Dinh Vu, An Hung, Deep C... are close to the eastern and southeastern localities of Hai Duong province such as Thanh Ha, Kim Thanh, Kinh Mon. Thanks to the developed transportation system, especially National Highway 5, Quang Thanh Bridge connecting Thanh Ha with An Lao District, Dinh Bridge connecting Thuy Nguyen District with Kinh Mon Town, it is much easier for workers to move to work in Hai Phong's industrial parks.

Mr. Bui Van Khai in Dai Duc commune (Kim Thanh) is working at Sumirubber Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Japanese industrial park) and said: “I have been working here for 13 years. It is only 14 km from home to work, the road is convenient, the income is stable, there is a basic salary, overtime, ensuring a stable life”.

Along with Mr. Khai, there are many workers from the same village and commune who also work in industrial parks in Hai Phong. Compared to some industrial parks in Hai Duong, Hai Phong is closer and the industrial parks here are built earlier, so they attract many workers from neighboring areas.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuan in Thanh Quang commune (Thanh Ha) has worked for more than ten years in Trang Due industrial park (An Duong) and said that after more than ten years of working there, she has become accustomed to a stable job and income. Since the Quang Thanh bridge was built, her travel has become more convenient and the distance has been shortened.

The number of Hai Duong workers working at foreign-invested enterprises in industrial parks in Hai Phong is increasing. According to preliminary statistics from some recruiting enterprises in Trang Due and Japan industrial parks, workers from Hai Duong currently account for 20-30%, mainly from people in areas bordering Hai Phong.

Not only attracting workers because of the border and reasonable living costs, but the income at some enterprises in Hai Phong Industrial Park is also higher than in Hai Duong, on average 2-3 million VND/person/month. Many Japanese and Korean enterprises have clear welfare policies and a professional working environment.

Abundant labor supply

FDI enterprises in Trang Due industrial park attract many Hai Duong workers

Hai Duong currently has about 2 million people, of which about 50% are of working age. This is an abundant labor supply, trained on-site from the system of secondary schools, vocational colleges and vocationaleducation - continuing education centers.

Not only hard-working, Hai Duong workers are also highly appreciated for their eagerness to learn, serious working attitude and desire to stay long-term if working in a stable, professional environment.

In the context of Hai Phong promoting investment attraction in high-tech industry and supporting industry, this human resource becomes a competitive advantage that not every locality has.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dai Duc Commune (Kim Thanh) said: "Most of the working-age people in the commune work in Hai Phong's industrial parks. This has been happening for many years and is increasing. Workers here consider Hai Phong as their number 1 priority workplace."

In mid-May, Saigon - Hai Phong Industrial Park Joint Stock Company (a member company of Kinh Bac Urban Development Corporation) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Trang Due 3 Industrial Park Infrastructure Investment and Business Project (An Lao District). This industrial park covers an area of ​​652.73 hectares in the communes of Truong Thanh, Truong Tho, An Tien and Bat Trang, in the Dinh Vu - Cat Hai economic zone, bordering Kim Thanh and Thanh Ha districts. The project, with a total investment of more than VND 8,000 billion, will continue to create many new jobs for local workers and neighboring areas in Hai Duong.

Currently, the flow of human resources also poses certain challenges. Some enterprises in industrial zones within the province reflect difficulties in recruitment when a part of the workforce chooses to work inter-provincially.

The difference in treatment also causes the labor market to tend to "bleed" local human resources.

Faced with the trend of labor migration, building a strategy for linking vocational training, recruitment, and business connections is inevitable. Infrastructure connecting the two localities needs to continue to be invested in, especially main roads such as National Highway 17B, Provincial Road 390, and expressways after the merger...

According to the Decision approving the planning of Hai Phong City for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, the city has 34 industrial parks.
Hai Phong City currently has 18 established industrial parks, 11 of which are in operation. The total number of employees working in industrial parks and economic zones is 215,368, an increase of 7.5% over the same period. Of which, 210,182 are Vietnamese workers; 5,186 are foreign workers. The average income in industrial parks and economic zones is estimated at 11.59 million VND/person/month.

Accumulated to May 2025, Hai Phong City's industrial parks attracted 633 FDI projects with a total foreign direct investment capital of 34.5 billion USD, attracting 234 FDI projects with a total domestic investment capital of 246,895 billion VND (equivalent to 10.6 billion USD).
