Thao Thi Sung’s brocade production facility has 35 local people participating. Their work is both production and handicraft demonstration when tourists come to visit and buy, the rest is mainly done at home according to the designs ordered and requested by customers.
Ms. Vang Thi Su, a Mong ethnic, is one of the people who is regularly invited to participate in demonstrations of her profession as well as to produce traditional Mong brocade products at the facility. Each month, this job has brought her a stable income of 3 million to 5 million VND, depending on the time.
Ms. Vang Thi Su shared: The work here is also light, suitable for the working ability and promotes the skills of the villagers. Not only do we have more income for our family, we also contribute to preserving the traditional profession of our people .

In addition to selling products to tourists when they come to visit, the facility also produces according to orders in some localities in the country. Thereby, bringing in revenue from 30 million to 40 million VND per month, increasing income for villagers during the off-season.
Ms. Thao Thi Sung - owner of a brocade production facility in Can Ngai village, Ta Phin commune, Lao Cai province said: I have been in this profession for many years. I see that my shop is developing well, helping people have more stable jobs and higher incomes than before.

Every week, many groups of tourists, especially international tourists, come to Can Ngai village and visit the brocade production facility of Ms. Thao Thi Sung. Through the guidance of the locals, tourists can experience beeswax painting or some steps of the craft and are very impressed with the culture and people here.
Many tourists after visiting here, all have the same feeling that everyone is very friendly and hospitable. The handicrafts at the brocade production facility of Ms. Thao Thi Sung have made a good impression on many tourists because every step is done very meticulously, completely by hand and according to traditional methods...


Preserving, promoting and turning traditional products into commodities, attracting tourists from near and far when coming to the locality. Thereby, creating livelihoods to help people in the village stabilize their lives is a meaningful work that the Mong people in Can Ngai village have been doing, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction in the highlands of Lao Cai.
