Prime Minister: Revolutionary journalism inspires and arouses aspirations for development

On the evening of June 21, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented the A prize - the highest prize of the 19th National Press Award in 2024 and spoke on behalf of the Party and State leaders at the 19th National Press Award Ceremony in 2024.

The Prime Minister stated that our Party, State and People always put their trust in the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press to inherit the tradition, with the spirit of "bright mind, pure heart, sharp pen" and "steel in the pen, fire in the heart" to fulfill its mission, contributing worthily to the cause of building, developing the country and protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.

The Prime Minister respectfully bowed to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh - the national liberation hero, cultural celebrity of Vietnam - founder of Vietnam's revolutionary journalism, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, sent his congratulations to veteran journalists, generations of journalists, journalists, and press workers nationwide and to the award-winning authors.

The Prime Minister emphasized that starting from Thanh Nien Newspaper founded by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc, throughout its 100-year history, the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press has continuously developed and grown stronger, affirming its role as a sharp and important political, cultural and ideological weapon, with the motto of serving the Fatherland, serving the People, for the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party, making great contributions and dedications to the struggle for national independence and freedom, national reunification and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

According to the Prime Minister, under any conditions or circumstances - whether in the "hell on earth" forced labor prisons of imperialism and colonialism, in the revolutionary war zones full of hardships and difficulties, or on fierce battlefields, in the most difficult times of the cause of innovation, integration and prevention of dangerous epidemics, natural disasters, storms and floods, the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press always affirms the truth, justice, guidelines, and correct policies of our Party, State and People.

The Prime Minister emphasized that in creating a glorious 100-year history, journalists always imbued, kept in mind and followed the profound teachings of beloved President Ho Chi Minh: "Journalists are also revolutionary soldiers. Pens and paper are their sharp weapons" and "Your pens are also sharp weapons in the cause of supporting righteousness and eliminating evil."

Expressing his emotion and gratitude for the heroic sacrifices of hundreds of journalists in the struggles for national independence, national reunification and the country's move towards socialism, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that in the cause of innovation, national construction, development and protection of the Fatherland today, the revolutionary press continues to affirm its core role in propagating, disseminating and promoting the implementation of the Party's platform, guidelines and policies and the State's policies and laws; acting as a bridge between the Party, the State and the People; contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of leadership, direction, management and administration at all levels, sectors and localities.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the press plays a leading role, providing accurate, timely, critical information, orienting public opinion, creating social consensus; contributing to firmly consolidating the great national unity bloc and the people's trust in the leadership of the Party and State.

The press proactively and actively contributes to protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting and refuting wrong and hostile viewpoints; preventing and combating corruption, negativity and waste. The press widely spreads humanistic values, compassion, goals, ideals, ambitions and dreams, with many typical and progressive examples, contributing to raising people's knowledge, forming correct viewpoints, good values and standards, bringing a vivid and profound image of the country and people of Vietnam, contributing to enhancing the position and prestige of our country in the international arena.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Prime Minister acknowledged, highly appreciated and respectfully thanked the great contributions of press agencies, veteran journalists and generations of journalists to the revolutionary cause, making an important contribution to the great achievements of the Party, State and People.

The Prime Minister assessed the National Press Awards as an event of special significance with the aim of honoring journalism and journalistic activities, recognizing the contributions of the Vietnamese revolutionary press and honoring individual journalists.

In 19 times of organization, the National Press Awards have attracted tens of thousands of high-quality press works to participate in the Awards and thousands of excellent works have been awarded. Many works have been invested in carefully and meticulously, have had positive and profound social impacts, contributed to orienting ideology, propagating policies, providing social criticism, and spreading noble humanistic values throughout the country and abroad. Many award-winning authors have matured and held leadership positions, taking on important responsibilities in press agencies and some important agencies of the Party and State.

The 19th National Press Awards with the spirit of "steel in the pen, fire in the heart" continues to demonstrate the development and growth of Revolutionary Press in both quantity and quality with many creative press products, applying modern technology, effectively reaching the public.

The award continues to affirm itself as a prestigious award, an important professional forum, contributing to improving professional qualifications and fanning the "professional flame" of journalists.

Warmly congratulating the authors who were awarded the 19th National Press Awards, the Prime Minister shared the difficulties and challenges that journalists and press agencies are facing, especially the explosive development of social networks, new methods and forms of communication, and fierce competition in the field of information and communication, which have had a profound impact on press activities in many aspects.

The Prime Minister believes that journalists and press agencies will continue to make efforts, be determined to innovate, adapt, and overcome, and produce more press works imbued with the tears and breath of life and continue to spread; affirming that the Party, State, Government, and Prime Minister always understand and direct competent agencies to focus on research, review, and have appropriate mechanisms, policies, and solutions to promote the Revolutionary Press to develop more strongly, to be more perfect, and to better serve the revolutionary cause of the Party, State, and People.

The Prime Minister said that in the journey of the nation's strong development, revolutionary press plays a particularly important role, creating motivation, inspiration, arousing the desire for development, creating nobler and greater values for the country; fanning the aspiration for a strong, prosperous, and benevolent Vietnam; spreading that aspiration widely to all classes of people, turning it into will, determination and action.

"This is a responsibility, a command of the times, the voice of the heart, of conscience and dignity of the Vietnamese people for the team of revolutionary journalists," the Prime Minister pointed out.

The Head of Government stated that each press agency and each journalist must be aware of their noble responsibility. Promoting the glorious tradition of 100 years, revolutionary press must always be an honest, objective voice, reflecting the multi-dimensional, comprehensive, and inclusive flow of life; be an effective bridge between the Party, the State and the People; courageously fight against evil and negativity, while at the same time encouraging and spreading typical examples, good things, and profound humanistic values in society.

Revolutionary press must be a pioneer in grasping and applying modern technology to improve communication efficiency; proactively transform digitally, develop multimedia journalism, make the most of the power of the internet and social networks, and digital technology to bring information to the public in the fastest and most effective way, contributing to building a healthy, humane media ecosystem that serves the people.

Revolutionary press must be an open, receptive, and listening forum for the People to express their thoughts and aspirations, participate in social supervision and criticism, so that the People's voices are heard and accepted, contributing to building a clean and strong political system, creating social consensus, and strengthening people's trust.

The Prime Minister emphasized that our country is entering a new era - an era of striving for rich, strong, civilized and prosperous development of the Vietnamese people.

In the context of the world, regional and domestic situation with more difficulties and challenges than opportunities and advantages, our Party, State and People always place their firm faith and full hope in the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press to continue to inherit the glorious 100-year history and tradition to constantly learn, improve qualifications, train steadfast political will, noble qualities, sharp expertise with the spirit of "bright mind, pure heart, sharp pen" and "steel in the pen, fire in the heart" to continuously develop strongly, fulfill its noble humanitarian mission, and contribute worthily to the cause of national construction, development and defense.

The Prime Minister hopes that every journalist and journalist is always ready to devote themselves to contributing to the country and the people, always unite, join hands, and be of one mind with the nation and the country to overcome all difficulties and challenges to build a Vietnam with rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness, civilization, firmly on the path of innovation, integration, and development in the new era, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers as President Ho Chi Minh always wished./.
