On the evening of June 20 in Paris, in a solemn and emotional atmosphere, the Vietnamese press in France, including the permanent offices of Vietnam News Agency, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Voice of Vietnam Radio and Vietnam Television, held a ceremony to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, an important historical milestone for the country's press.
Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang, Ambassador-Head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to UNESCO Nguyen Thi Van Anh, and many guests attended, creating a meaningful and emotional ceremony.
The Vietnamese press in France is not simply the presence of media agencies, but also "the extended arms of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press" in the city of lights, Paris.
As journalist Khai Hoan, Chief of the Resident Office of Nhan Dan newspaper, shared: "Paris is a little more beautiful because there are the extended arms of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, the resident reporters."
The history of Vietnamese journalism in France can be traced back to President Ho Chi Minh , the genius leader who used journalism as a sharp weapon to fight for peace, independence, and freedom of the nation during his time in France from 1917 to 1923.
In the 100-year journey of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, there is the mark of half a century of Vietnamese journalism in France. Specifically, in the 1970s, reporters of the Vietnam News Agency (now the Vietnam News Agency) were present in the capital Paris to report on the signing of the Paris Agreement, ending the American war of aggression in Vietnam, as well as the international movement to restore peace in Vietnam. They were the "pioneer press soldiers in France," contributing to the liberation and construction of the country.
Since then, Vietnam News Agency, with more than 50 years of operation in France, has affirmed its position as the first and leading unit in foreign information and domestic international information. It is difficult to count all the photos, news lines, articles and even the sweat of Vietnam News Agency's resident reporters who have poured down on the cobblestone streets of Paris to fulfill their role as a bridge between Vietnam and France.

Since 1998, Nhan Dan Newspaper has been on a journey of thousands of miles following in the footsteps of the nation's revolutionary journalist Ho Chi Minh. With the unwritten slogan "Fast, accurate, precise, good," over the past 27 years, Nhan Dan reporters have left a significant mark on the Party's printed and visual publications, contributing to bringing a new breath to Nhan Dan. The permanent office of Nhan Dan Newspaper in France is likened to "a red dot, bearing the sparkling color of the flag."
The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) has also been working side by side with its press comrades in France for 26 years. With its specialized radio journalism, and after the renovation, with the addition of print and television journalism, VOV has covered from the border to the islands, from remote areas to the cities, and VOV's wealth of news is supported by its resident reporters from France. Many national journalism awards have been given to VOV reporters stationed in France.
Vietnam Television (VTV) is the youngest unit, established according to a streamlined model in 2018 with the formula "one horse, one spear." Fully aware of the difficulties and challenges, the French resident team aims to always be curious in approaching topics, working hard in journalism to have sharp reports on political, cultural and social issues. Reports on human trafficking, war refugees or documentaries have been highly appreciated.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Ha, Head of the Vietnam News Agency Resident Office, on behalf of Vietnamese press agencies in France, emphasized the extremely important dual role of the Vietnamese press in France: "Both being a bridge of friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two peoples of Vietnam and France, and also a promoter of the national identity of the Vietnamese community living here."
She expressed: "We are proud to be unofficial cultural ambassadors, bringing Vietnamese stories to international friends and conveying international stories to domestic readers, while helping the Vietnamese community in France maintain close ties with their homeland."
According to journalist Thu Ha, in the digital age, Vietnamese press in France is facing many new opportunities and challenges. She believes that with the dual role of writing, photojournalism and visual production, Vietnamese journalists in France have demonstrated their ability to adapt and innovate constantly to ensure a smooth flow of information in the Vietnam-France relationship.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Dinh Toan Thang congratulated this special event of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press in general, and the Vietnamese press in France in particular. He emphasized: "100 years is a number that represents a milestone not only of the press and the Vietnamese Revolution, but also a heroic milestone of the Vietnamese people."
Appreciating the effective contributions of resident reporters, the Ambassador emphasized: "I especially acknowledge the maturity of the Vietnamese press in France in recent years, from the sharpness of perception, to the urgency in action, and the timely adaptation to professional techniques, to ensure the maintenance of the flow of current information." On this occasion, the Ambassador expressed his wish that the Vietnamese press in France will develop even more strongly to "serve the Fatherland and the people."
Representative of the Association of Vietnamese Youth and Students in France, Mr. Nguyen Phan Bao Thuy, expressed his admiration for the professional and agile style of the press team and affirmed that those working at Vietnamese press agencies in France are the connecting, close, and extremely close link between the overseas Vietnamese community in France and the community in the country.
Mr. Tang Thanh Son, representative of the Vietnamese Cultural Center in France, also emphasized the importance of connecting with the press: "As a cultural agency representing Vietnam abroad, we highly value connecting with our press in the host country... It is a special bridge, with a very special affection."
Over more than half a century of operation, the Vietnamese press in France has become the silent bricks contributing to building a house of news, truth, responsibility and love for the Fatherland. They have truly been press soldiers on the foreign front, making an important contribution to the success of the Vietnam-France cooperative relationship.

Regardless of their unit, journalists from the Vietnamese press agencies in France are always aware of their role and responsibility as revolutionary journalists, always standing side by side, ready to support each other to complete their tasks well. Journalism is not only a profession for writers or cameramen, but also "a profession for clear heads and warm hearts" as shared by journalist My Linh, VTV's resident reporter in France.
The 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press in Paris is not only an occasion to look back on the achievements, but also an opportunity for Vietnamese journalists in France to continue affirming their important role in building a cultural bridge, enhancing mutual understanding between the two nations, contributing to the cause of national construction and development in the new era./.
