"Igniting the entrepreneurial spirit" among students.

Recently, many universities and colleges in the province have organized training courses on knowledge and skills related to innovative entrepreneurship for students. This is a practical activity that contributes to spreading the spirit of innovative entrepreneurship to young people even while they are still in university.

However, these training programs are not enough to ignite the passion for entrepreneurship and inspire the determination and perseverance to pursue this path.

Want to start a business but have many concerns.

Those who have embarked on the path of entrepreneurship are well aware that this is not a "stroll" but a challenging journey requiring serious investment. Besides acquiring knowledge, students who want to start a business need passion and perseverance. In reality, when thinking about starting a business, most students believe they lack many of the necessary conditions to begin.

According to Vo Thi Tuong Vi, a business administration student (Faculty of Economics , Dong Nai University), the common difficulties for students wanting to start a business are financial issues and a lack of clear direction, an inability to visualize the "steps to take," and a lack of guidance and support. "If I were to start a business, there are two things I need most: capital and a partner to support me and show me a clear direction," Vi said.

For Thach Minh An, an electronics engineering student at Dong Nai University, the biggest obstacle for himself (and many other young people) is shyness. An shared: “There are some very talented students with many ideas, but they lack the courage to break free from established norms and routines. Therefore, they miss opportunities to achieve success. It's even more regrettable when that success could benefit society.”

Mr. An further expressed that students are a young force with many creative and innovative ideas. Therefore, if they have a solid support system, not only financially but also emotionally, it will help them to freely create. “Students need to self-study and improve their knowledge not only in the school environment but also in life. They must always pay attention, observe, and learn in order to recognize entrepreneurial opportunities in daily life,” Mr. An said.

Leveraging technology, novelty, and uniqueness.

For many years, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of the KMi Institute of Knowledge Management ( Ho Chi Minh City), has been a partner with the Dong Nai Provincial Youth Union and universities and colleges in the province in encouraging student entrepreneurship.

According to Dr. Tung, a leader of the universities, the Dong Nai Provincial Youth Union is very interested in and promotes innovation-based entrepreneurship for students. Thanks to this, students are able to hone their knowledge and skills to start businesses. However, students need more support.

Based on his experience participating in innovation and entrepreneurship activities with students in Dong Nai, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung observed that Dong Nai students have a strong desire to learn, are dynamic, and many want to start their own businesses. However, there are still limitations that need to be addressed. The most typical example is that many students start businesses without understanding the proper methods, mostly simply following existing practices. Therefore, according to Dr. Tung, when embarking on an entrepreneurial venture, students should not rush into it immediately but should explore solutions such as technology, new methods, uniqueness, and novelty to create a more distinctive product for society. Innovation and entrepreneurship training and support programs in universities can fully support this.

Every year, the Youth Union plans to organize innovation and entrepreneurship training for students. However, it must be frankly admitted that this activity is still not truly high-quality and mainly only provides students with a basic introduction to innovation and entrepreneurship. I hope that, given its position as a developed industrial province with the 4th largest economy in the country, the Dong Nai Provincial Youth Union will promote innovation and entrepreneurship activities among its members in general and students in particular; creating more opportunities for entrepreneurship. Especially, I hope they will pay more attention to the two colleges in the former Binh Phuoc province so that students can participate in these activities more often.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung believes that agricultural product processing and food processing are two very diverse fields with wide development potential, suitable for student entrepreneurship. In particular, in these fields, students can explore many "new possibilities" and face less competition compared to other fields.

Mr. Tung commented: "I believe that Dong Nai has agricultural, aquatic, and food products that you can create value-added for. This will also be a very unique highlight for innovative startups among Dong Nai students."

The involvement of experts and businesses in encouraging and supporting student entrepreneurship is essential. Along with that, innovation-based startup competitions help discover unique ideas and new directions, not only exploiting products but also developing services. Especially in a two-tiered local government model, innovation-based startup activities need to be connected with communes and wards, thereby building a sustainable innovation-based startup ecosystem. To achieve this, according to Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, coordination and leadership from the Departments of Science and Technology, Education and Training, and Agriculture and Environment are necessary.

If you truly have a burning passion to start a business, then practice with unwavering dedication and perseverance, because starting a business is not easy. It's also important to distinguish between the passion for entrepreneurship and the pursuit of material possessions, power, or status. Only with passion will you have the perseverance to see it through to the end.

For universities and colleges, there needs to be internal collaboration between departments and disciplines to leverage the strengths of each. Furthermore, it's necessary to expand linkages between universities and colleges so that "disparate pieces" can be put together to create unique startup products.

According to experts, a business internship model should be developed to give students the opportunity to directly access and learn from businesses. Conversely, businesses should also cooperate with schools to train students. From this, students can develop ideas that directly contribute to the development of businesses, such as product improvements, new ideas, and innovative solutions.
