On April 8, Toyota and Daihatsu announced their decision to change the structure, functional departments... This decision was made with the goal of strengthening Toyota Group's governance, ensuring the prevention of recurrence of risks, based on Daihatsu's resources and actual conditions, bringing the company back on track, becoming a "mobility solutions company focusing on compact vehicles".
According to the announcement, these changes will take place in the following direction: Business and product planning functions, certification development will be transferred to Toyota Compact Car Company.
In addition, Toyota will be responsible for everything from business planning and product development to certification for small cars in emerging markets, while Daihatsu will continue to support the development of small cars for developing markets as an implementation unit under Toyota's close supervision.
Other matters including resource management/optimization and other outsourcing issues also need to be reported to Toyota and enhanced connection with Toyota.
In addition, Toyota Asia Pacific (TMAP - headquartered in Singapore) and Toyota Daihatsu (TDEM - headquartered in Thailand) will be renamed "Toyota Motor Asia" (TMA) to better reflect the development vision and direction of integrating solutions and bringing freedom of movement to everyone (Mobility for All), with the expectation of meeting the diverse needs of customers across the Asia region and beyond.
The name change will officially take effect around June 2024, subject to legal procedures and authorities in Singapore and Thailand.

Together with our Group companies and partners, we will continue to push the boundaries of the Toyota Mobility Concept, but based on the actual market situation and customer needs.”
Along with previous actions, the change in internal structure and function shows that Toyota is determined and proactive in overcoming the consequences of unusual problems, aiming to strictly control production stages and product testing processes, increasingly better meeting the diverse needs of customers and in line with the goal of transforming into a company providing comprehensive mobility solutions.
