The dilemma of human fate

Before and after the year 2012, The Last Dream had a rather diverse life in terms of genres before being re-produced (notably in 2015, this play was successfully adapted into Cai Luong with the name The Last Dream , directed by Meritorious Artist Tran Minh Ngoc, then re-broadcast on the show Harmony of Nine Dragons in 2016). After a long time, the re-production of The Last Dream still leaves viewers bewildered with the eternal issues: desire and forgiveness.

Artists Ai Nhu and Tri Quang play the role of Mr. and Mrs. Hai, who live by fishing on a remote island. Artist Thanh Hoi, who used to play Mr. Hai, now plays the role of the youngest son who has returned from the battlefield, half-awake and half-asleep. Then Man (played by artist Tuyet Thu), an orphan girl, is adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Hai until she grows up and has an engagement with Mr. Hai's son (played by Doan Minh Tai). One fateful night, Man is harmed by a man and becomes pregnant. Mr. Hai's family changes forever after the baby is born.

With a dramatic language that is both direct and gentle, director - artist Ai Nhu has performed a very deep "surgery" into the human dilemma: facing temptations that threaten to destroy the deep blood ties and the responsibility to protect the family, people have to make heartbreaking decisions. And so, the cracks inside Mr. Hai's family become deeper and deeper, making the characters cry then laugh, then be shocked. The internal conflict in the play is pushed to the end but is developed slowly, making it difficult to distinguish between black and white, right and wrong, so that the audience can make their own response. The tragedy in Mr. Hai's family or in himself, is something that many people have to go through in life, so The Last Dream creates sympathy in the audience.

In the new season of Anniversary Season , which opened with the play Half a Life of Incense, which "sold out" from the first performances, The Last Dream will continue to be a successful play. The play will be performed on September 14, 28 and 29.
