Over 3 years of implementing the "Project for Developing Organic Agriculture in the Whole Province", many models of cultivation and livestock breeding have been built and developed, contributing to enhancing the reputation and brand value of agricultural products, and joining hands to protect the natural environment in the area.

High-yielding beef cattle herd of Thien Sinh Farm, Ka Don Commune, Don Duong District meets Organic Livestock Certification standards in 2023 |
Statistics by the end of March 2024, the whole province granted Organic Standard Certificates to 43 cultivation and livestock models on a total area of nearly 1,580 hectares and 1,043 livestock. Of which, there are 24 models certified organic according to Vietnamese standards and 18 models certified organic according to European, American, Japanese standards... In 2023 alone, Lam Dong Agricultural Extension Center supported the granting of 8 Organic Certificates to organizations and individuals growing coffee, macadamia, artichoke, fruit trees, water chestnuts, and raising high-yield beef cattle. In particular, the model implemented from 2021 to 2023 completed the production and livestock process, fully meeting the standards for granting Organic Certificates in macadamia, coffee, and water chestnut cultivation with 164 hectares; raising 38 beef cattle.
Reporters talked with farmer Nguyen Quoc Thang, owner of a farm with 38 high-yield beef cattle that were granted an organic farming certificate in 2023. It is known that this herd of cows was originally imported from Australia and France, and raised in an organic environment in Ka Don village, Ka Don commune, Don Duong district more than 10 years ago. Entering the high-yield beef cattle breeding, Mr. Thang bought 9 females and 1 male from 2 to 3 years old, each weighing 200 - 500 kg. Raising them according to a closed process, arranging grass growing areas, processing and utilizing vegetable, root and fruit by-products on the farm to make daily food for the beef cattle herd. Every day, the cattle are given yogurt to drink early in the morning. The amount of manure discharged on the biological bedding with ash, rice husks, coffee husks, and coal mixed for about 2 months is collected and put in a pit to compost with biological products for another 2 months before being used to fertilize the crops on the farm. "The organic beef cattle farming process here has stabilized the nutritional content of three meals a day. Each cow has a morning ration of 5 liters of yogurt; at noon 15 kg of fresh grass; in the evening 10 kg of various organic vegetables. After 2.5 - 3 years of raising, the cows are sold for meat, each weighing 600 - 700 kg, the selling price is one and a half times higher than beef cattle raised according to conventional processes...", farm owner Nguyen Quoc Thang informed.
Also in 2023, the whole province also built 2 organic agricultural production models and 1 model applying high technology in preliminary processing, processing and preserving organic products. Specifically, the organic tea production model in Loc Tan commune, Bao Lam district with a scale of 1 ha/household, state capital supports materials and guides technical processes. As a result, the yield of the organic tea production model garden is lower than that of the mass production garden by 800 kg/ha. On the contrary, the price of fresh organic tea buds is 5,000 VND/kg higher than that of the control tea garden produced outside the model. Thereby, the revenue from organic tea production model is more than 525 million VND/ha, an increase of 60.5 million VND/ha compared to tea production outside the model, corresponding to a profit increase of more than 13.2%. Lam Dong Agricultural Extension Center organized a workshop to summarize the model and transfer the technical process of organic tea cultivation, attracting 45 participants.
With the organic farming model of 500 egg-laying chickens in Loc Nga commune, Bao Loc city, the state capital supports rice bran and other materials. After 100 days of raising, the egg-laying rate reached 77%, equivalent to 38,500 eggs. The model initially earned a profit of more than 23.5 million VND/500 chickens, while raising outside the model only earned a profit of 20 million VND/500 chickens.
In addition, the model of applying high technology in the preliminary processing and preservation of organic products at the Ha Nhien Organic Agricultural Products Cooperative, with state capital supporting 1 coffee bean color sorting machine and 28 coffee drying racks, has achieved significant results. "Specifically, the model helps the Ha Nhien Organic Agricultural Products Cooperative earn more income from organic coffee production, reducing 97% of labor in the coffee bean color sorting stage, saving an additional 955,000 VND in costs for each ton of coffee. During the implementation of the model, many farmers came to visit, access techniques, learn from experience, showing the possibility of replicating the model on a larger scale to localities in and outside Lam Dong province in the coming time...", Lam Dong Agricultural Extension Center commented.
