Race of excellent students

In 2025, 6 secondary schools in Ho Chi Minh City will organize surveys to enroll 6th grade students, including: Tran Dai Nghia Secondary - High School, Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu Secondary School, Binh Tho Secondary School, Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School, Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School.

The survey participants were students who had completed primary school in Ho Chi Minh City and had a score of 9 or higher on the end-of-year periodic test for each subject of Vietnamese and Math in grade 5.

Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School recruits 350 students, citywide.

Three schools in Thu Duc City (including Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu Secondary School and Binh Tho Secondary School) require students to have completed primary school in Thu Duc City or completed primary school elsewhere and currently reside in the city.

Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School recruits students in Hoc Mon district and students who have completed primary school elsewhere and are currently residing in the district.

Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School recruits students who have completed primary school and currently reside in District 7.

The odds can be up to 1/10

Currently, there are 3,536 students registered to participate in the 6th grade admission survey at 3 schools in Thu Duc City. Of which, Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School has 1,236 students registered to participate in the 6th grade admission survey, the enrollment target is 315 students, the competition ratio is about 1/4.

Binh Tho Secondary School has 1,094 registered students, the enrollment target is 280, the competition ratio is about 1/4.

Hoa Lu Secondary School has 1,203 registered students, the enrollment target is 245 students, the competition ratio is approximately 1/5.

The competition rate for grade 6 admission to these three schools in 2025 is higher than that of the 2024 admission period (with 2,837 students registering to take the survey). Last year, Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School had 1,025 students registering/315 quotas, competition rate: 1/3.3; Hoa Lu Secondary School had 1,116 students registering/385 quotas, competition rate: 1/2.9); Binh Tho Secondary School (696 students registering/280 quotas, competition rate: 1/2.5).

Currently, Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School, Tran Dai Nghia Secondary - High School, and Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School have not announced the number of candidates registered for the survey and the competition rate, however, it is expected that the competition rate will be high.

This is the second year Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School and Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School have organized the survey. Last year, Nguyen An Khuong Secondary School recruited 245 students, of which 724 students took the exam, with a competition ratio of 1/2.94.

Nguyen Huu Tho Secondary School recruited 500 students, of which 1,652 students participated in the survey, the competition ratio was 1/3.3.

Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School has a tradition of very high competition ratio. In 2024, there were 4,301 students registered, the quota was 350 students, the highest competition ratio ever was 1/12.2.

In the 2023-2024 school year, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted will enroll 525 sixth graders and about 4,800 students will register, with a competition ratio of about 1/9.

No entrance exam, a hot school has a special consideration method

Nguyen Van To Secondary School (District 10) this year recruits 300 6th grade students, following the integrated English program and the enhanced English program. The admission criteria are that students have completed primary school, grade 5 with the title of excellent student and must have at least 3 years in primary school with the title of excellent student.

The school encourages students to have additional international language certificates such as PET or KET, or FLYERS, TOEFL Primary, or Pearson PEIC (PTE Young Learners) Quickmarch level... The school will consider the final Vietnamese and math scores of grades 3, 4 and 5.

It is expected that this year Ho Chi Minh City will have 124,108 students enrolled in grade 6.
