Mr. Tran Tuan Anh: 'Dad lived a life full of love and affection'

The memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong was solemnly held this morning at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong ( Hanoi ), the Reunification Hall in Ho Chi Minh City and his hometown in Quang Ngai.

After the eulogy, Party and State leaders and family members present at the National Funeral House observed a minute of silence in memory of formerPresident Tran Duc Luong.

In boundless emotion and inconsolable pain, the family representative, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, son of former President Tran Duc Luong, expressed deep gratitude to all delegates who attended the memorial service and saw off the father on his final journey of life.

Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, son of former President Tran Duc Luong, gave a speech of thanks.

"First of all, our family would like to sincerely thank the Party Central Committee, the Politburo , the Secretariat, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for solemnly organizing the State funeral to commemorate and pay tribute to my father's great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. We would like to express our deep gratitude to the leaders, former leaders of the Party, the State, central and local departments, ministries, branches, unions, diplomatic agencies, international organizations, domestic and international guests who sent wreaths, condolences, and came directly to visit and see off my father," said Mr. Tran Tuan Anh.

He also expressed his gratitude to the group of professors, experts, doctors, and nurses in the medical sector, especially at the 108 Central Military Hospital, who were extremely dedicated and responsible in caring for and treating former President Tran Duc Luong.

"My family deeply appreciates the special feelings of the people of Quang Ngai - where my father was born, grew up and followed the revolution. We would like to express our deep gratitude to our homeland for their precious feelings and farewell to my father in his final moments," he shared.

Mr. Tran Tuan Anh said that throughout his life, his father lived, worked and devoted himself tirelessly to the noble revolutionary ideal, to national independence and socialism, and to the happiness of the people. No matter what position he held, from a geological officer to the President, his father always upheld a sense of responsibility, devoted himself to his work, was close to the people and had a simple lifestyle.

"In work and life, my father taught us lessons about patriotism, dedication to work, how to live sincerely, simply, humbly and about responsibility towards the country and the people. His teachings and example will always be the luggage for our descendants in work and life," said Mr. Tran Tuan Anh.

To his family, former President Tran Duc Luong was an exemplary husband, loyal all his life, and a solid support for the entire family. "My parents' simple but profound love allowed us to be born and grow up in a simple but always happy family."

Mr. Tran Tuan Anh expressed: "Now, our father has rested in peace, but in the hearts of each family member, his image and spiritual legacy will always live with the family. We vow to follow the path that our father took, always living and dedicating ourselves to making a small contribution to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland that our father devoted his entire life to."

"Dad! You have lived a life full of love for the Party, the people, the country, the homeland and your family. The legacy you left behind is not only your achievements in the revolutionary career but also your love, intelligence, devotion, kindness and humility. We promise to live up to what you have taught us....", he shared.
