Reporting on the socio -economic situation of Cai Lay town in the past time, comrade Pham Van Van, Standing Deputy Secretary of Cai Lay Town Party Committee said: With the solidarity and consensus of the Party Committee, government and people of the town, up to now, Cai Lay town has achieved many outstanding results in all fields. The town's economic structure has shifted in the right direction. The average production value per capita reached about 117 million VND, an increase of 41%.
Cai Lay town was recognized as a type III urban area and completed the task of building new rural areas by 2020; currently, 6/10 communes have met the advanced new rural standards, 1 commune has met the model new rural standards; 6/6 wards have met the civilized urban standards and continue to strive to build Cai Lay town to meet the civilized urban standards by 2025; gradually complete the urban criteria so that Cai Lay town becomes a city under the province by 2030.
Rural transportation, electricity, water, communication and people's living standards have changed positively, gradually reducing the gap between rural and urban areas. Up to now, 100% of households have electricity and clean water. Cultural, social and health care services for people are guaranteed. Policies for people with meritorious services; social security policies are fully and promptly implemented. The rate of poor households according to the multidimensional poverty standard in the town has decreased from 4.88% in 2014 to 0.69% in 2023; the poverty reduction rate of Cai Lay town leads the whole province.
Projects calling for investment have received special attention, including the successful call for Cai Lay Town Supermarket project - total investment of 110 billion VND; Road No. 4 project and residential area on both sides of the road - total investment of 300 billion VND, currently in the process of site clearance.

Cai Lay Town Party Committee has 57 grassroots Party organizations (19 grassroots Party Committees, 38 grassroots Party cells), 173 affiliated Party cells, with 3,983 Party members. Since its establishment, the Party building work has always been considered a key task by the Town Party Committee. Inheriting and promoting the achievements of Cai Lay district in the past, the Town Party Committee Executive Committee has focused on leading, directing, implementing, thoroughly grasping and organizing the good implementation of resolutions, conclusions and directives of the Central and Provincial Party Committees. Thereby, the solidarity and unanimity within the Party and the people's trust in the Party have been gradually enhanced, creating an important foundation for Cai Lay Town Party Committee to successfully carry out political tasks and achieve important results.
To prepare for new opportunities for development, striving from now until 2030 to turn Cai Lay town into a provincial city, worthy of being the central urban area of the western region of the province, in the immediate future, the town continues to focus on achieving the highest level of the targets set by the Resolution of the 2020-2025 term Congress of the Town Party Committee.
Along with that, continue to develop the economy, strive to increase annual production value above the average of recent years; increase local budget revenue; encourage and create a favorable environment for trade and service development; strengthen leadership and direction in implementing the National Target Program on new rural construction; civilized urban areas; continue to fully and effectively implement social security policies, policies for people with meritorious services and sustainable poverty reduction. Develop infrastructure and quality of education and health care. Build a team of cadres, civil servants and public employees to ensure quality, ethics and professional expertise to meet the requirements of integration and development.
In particular, promote urban development and beautification; focus on promoting internal strength and mobilizing all resources to build Cai Lay town to be worthy of a type III urban area, build Cai Lay town into a provincial city by 2030, and at the same time promote its role as an urban area in the western economic region of Tien Giang province.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of Cai Lay town in socio-economic development in recent times. However, according to comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, these are only initial results, so the town needs to strive to do better and not be satisfied with what has been achieved.
According to comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, we now have national planning, regional planning, and provincial planning. The Party and the State have been and continue to devote resources to building and developing the transportation system and infrastructure to promote the development of the Mekong Delta, including Cai Lay town. Therefore, the town needs to closely follow general policies, continue to promote its strengths, strive to promote socio-economic development, and improve people's lives.
In addition, the Party Committee, government and people of the town need to be determined to transform the economic structure, promote agricultural advantages but it must be high-quality agriculture, apply high science and technology in agricultural production to improve product quality; research and study to promote the strengths of the river region to develop the tourism industry.
Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia assessed that Cai Lay has advantages in terms of population, enthusiasm, diligence and creativity. This is not only a resource for Cai Lay or Tien Giang but also a resource for the whole country. The town needs to promote this resource, especially high-quality human resources. At the same time, continue to comprehensively implement the work of building the Party and the political system, implementing resolutions associated with national digital transformation.../.
