Practical care for people with meritorious services and policy families

Phu Xuan commune currently has 294 meritorious people (NCC) and their relatives receiving subsidies from the Party and the State. In recent years, in addition to fully and promptly implementing policies for NCC, visiting and giving gifts to NCC, the commune has also mobilized support for repairing and building new houses; supporting livelihoods for families of war invalids and sick soldiers, and families with preferential policies to stabilize their lives.

After 10 years of military service (from 1973 to 1982), war invalid Dinh Xuan Dai (Xuan Ha 2 village) was discharged and returned to civilian life, but the consequences of the war were quite severe when 2/7 of his children were infected with Agent Orange.

Due to old age, poor health, and two sick children, life was extremely difficult, but with the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldier, he always tried to rise up. Besides, his family always received the attention, sharing, and encouragement of the local government.

Mr. Dai shared: “Every year, on holidays and Tet, local leaders come to visit and give gifts to my family. In daily life, when I encounter difficulties, local leaders always wholeheartedly support me in a timely manner. In particular, the local government has supported my family with 107 million VND to build a new house. This is a meaningful gift that helps my family stabilize their lives.”

Enlisted in 1971, fought on the battlefield in Thua Thien - Hue , in 1973 Mr. Nguyen Van Doi (Xuan Ha 1 village) was seriously injured in a battle by a cluster bomb. After that, he had to go for treatment and then was discharged to join the local army.

After the country was unified, he stayed in his hometown to start a family and make a living by farming, and then had four children. In 2000, because life in his hometown was difficult, he and his wife and children moved to Ea Dah commune (old) to start a business. In his new hometown, he worked hard, but because of his war injuries, his health declined a lot, and life was still difficult.

"The commune always focuses on implementing policies for people with meritorious services and their relatives in a complete, timely and effective manner. Every year, the commune allocates the Gratitude Fund and mobilizes socialized funding to visit and give gifts to meritorious people on holidays and Tet; and supports the construction and repair of houses. Up to now, in the commune, there are no more meritorious people's families living in temporary or dilapidated houses, and there are no more poor families..." - Vice Chairman of Phu Xuan Commune People's Committee Nguyen Tien An.

In order to help Uncle Ho's soldiers return after the war to protect the Fatherland to have a prosperous life, the Party Committee and the commune government regularly care, visit, give gifts on holidays and Tet; give seedlings, create conditions for him to participate in training courses on planting and caring for coffee, durian, building economic models...

Thanks to that, Mr. Doi's family life has been increasingly improved. In 2013, his family received 30 million VND in support, and additional funding to build a house of gratitude of more than 50 square meters , with a total cost of more than 130 million VND. After more than 10 years of use, the house was degraded, so in 2024, Ea Dah commune (old) supported his family with 20 million VND for repairs.

Promoting the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers, Mr. Nguyen Van Doi always takes care of developing his family's economy.

To date, Mr. Doi's family has nearly 1 hectare of coffee intercropped with more than 100 durian trees, earning an annual income of about 200 million VND. Mr. Doi confided: "Over the years, my family has always received thoughtful attention from local authorities and party committees. Our contributions to the war to protect national independence, although a long time has passed, are still being cared for by today's generations, which makes me happiest."
