According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the day and night of June 16, many dangerous weather patterns such as heavy rain, flash floods, landslides... will appear.
Heavy rain in the mountainous and midland areas of the North
Commenting specifically on the rain situation, early on the morning of June 16, Deputy Head of the Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting Le Thi Loan said that on the day and night of June 16, the mountainous and midland areas of the North will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 20-50mm, locally over 80mm in some places, with the possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind during thunderstorms.
Localized heavy rains are likely to cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas. Warning level 1 of natural disaster risk due to tornadoes, lightning and hail.
On the night of June 15 and early morning of June 16, the Northern region had showers and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy to very heavy rain. The rainfall from 7:00 p.m. on June 15 to 3:00 a.m. on June 16 was over 70mm in some places, such as: Muong Gion (Son La) 103mm, Hua Bun (Lai Chau) 87.4mm, Nam Chay (Lao Cai) 80.2mm, Cam Phuc ( Hai Duong ) 79.2mm, Cuc Duong (Thai Nguyen) 73.2mm...
Beware of flash floods and landslides in Lai Chau and Yen Bai
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from 4:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on June 16, Lai Chau and Yen Bai provinces continued to have rain with accumulated rainfall ranging from 20-40mm, with some places over 60mm.
There is a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in the above provinces, especially in the districts of Tan Uyen, Than Uyen, Muong Te, Nam Nhun (Lai Chau province); Mu Cang Chai, Tram Tau (Yen Bai province).
Warning level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides, land subsidence due to heavy rain or level 1 flow.
Flash floods and landslides can have very negative impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion, affect the movement of vehicles; destroy civil and economic works, causing damage to production and socio-economic activities.
The Hydrometeorological Agency recommends that local authorities pay attention to reviewing bottlenecks and vulnerable locations in the area to take preventive and response measures.
From 1:00 to 3:00 on June 16, Lai Chau and Yen Bai provinces had moderate rain, some places had heavy rain such as: Phu Nam Sap (Lai Chau) 63.6mm, Phuc Than (Lai Chau) 44.2mm Khao Mang (Yen Bai) 34.0mm...
Soil moisture models show that some areas in the above provinces are close to saturation (over 80%) or have reached saturation.
