According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 29, many areas across the country continued to record widespread heavy rain, posing a potential risk of flash floods, landslides and localized flooding.

Last night and early this morning, May 29, many places recorded very heavy rain. In Tam Thanh (Phu Tho), the rainfall amount reached 192.8mm, Giap Dac ( Hoa Binh ) 136.6mm, Nam Giai (Nghe An) 134.4mm, My Xuan (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) 149.2mm... Areas with moderate rain, heavy rain and widespread thunderstorms include the North, North Central, South Central, Central Highlands and the South.

On May 29, the Northern and North Central provinces continued to have moderate to heavy rain, with rainfall ranging from 30-80mm, with some places over 180mm. In the South Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions, rain occurred from early morning to night, with rainfall ranging from 30-70mm, with some places exceeding 120mm. In particular, this area is at risk of heavy rain, with rainfall of over 100mm in just 3 hours.

The warning for natural disasters due to heavy rain is currently at level 1. The meteorological agency warns that heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas, industrial zones; landslides on steep slopes and flash floods on small rivers and streams.

At sea, thunderstorms occur in many areas, including the Gulf of Tonkin; the sea area from Da Nang to Ca Mau ; Ca Mau to Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand; the northern, central and southern areas of the East Sea (including the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa sea areas). In particular, the sea area from Quang Tri to Hue has scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and at night.

During thunderstorms at sea, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong winds of level 6-7, and waves over 2m high, directly affecting the operations of ships. Authorities advise fishermen and ship owners to closely monitor weather developments, regularly update information from meteorological agencies, and avoid going to sea when the weather conditions are bad.

It is forecasted that from May 30, heavy rains will tend to decrease nationwide.
