On May 16, the 30th Conference of Party Newspapers of Northern Provinces and Cities hosted by Hanoi Moi Newspaper with the theme "Promoting the tradition of revolutionary journalism, pioneering digital transformation, accompanying the country into a new era" will take place in Hanoi.
Present in Hanoi to prepare for the Conference, leaders of press agencies shared their feelings and thoughts about this meaningful event.
Journalist Nguyen Tien Vu, Editor-in-Chief of Bac Ninh Newspaper, Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial Journalists Association:
A valuable opportunity for in-depth discussion and experience sharing

In the context that press and media agencies in Vietnam are implementing mergers and consolidations, especially at the time of implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TU, dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation, the Workshop "Promoting the tradition of revolutionary journalism, pioneering digital transformation, accompanying the country into the new era" organized by Hanoi Moi Newspaper has a particularly important meaning for the common development of press agencies in the digital age, is a forum for press and media agencies to discuss towards building a streamlined, compact, strong, efficient, effective, and efficient apparatus suitable for the current multimedia newsroom model.
I hope that the Workshop will be a valuable opportunity to discuss in depth and share experiences in implementing the Party's new policies, especially the arrangement and streamlining of the press apparatus associated with digital transformation. Thereby, it will help press agencies plan strategies to build models suitable for modern journalism, effectively carry out political tasks, propagate the Party's guidelines and the State's legal policies, and at the same time, improve competitiveness and operational efficiency. This will also be a valuable source of information for press agencies to refer to, gradually transform strongly in both thinking and action, change to a new style of journalism, and meet the requirements of tasks in the current revolutionary period.
Journalist Bui Thi Hong Suong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper:
Evidence of proactive adaptation to new trends

I am impressed with the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Workshop with the theme "Promoting the tradition of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism, pioneering digital transformation, accompanying the country into the new era". Pioneering digital transformation is not only a survival solution but also a historical mission, helping the press continue to accompany the country in the technology era, playing an important role in spreading official information, building social trust and promoting sustainable development. I hope that the workshop is not only an opportunity to summarize experiences and share practices of each newspaper but also a message of action for press agencies in the digital era.
Over the past 100 years, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has affirmed its role as a vanguard force on the ideological and cultural front, accompanying the nation in every historical period. At present, when the country is entering a period of comprehensive digital transformation, the press continues to play a key role in propagating policies, orienting public opinion and contributing to creating social consensus. The workshop organized by Hanoi Moi Newspaper is a testament to the proactiveness of the press agency in adapting to new trends and striving for sustainable development.
The reality at Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper shows that press agencies are facing many challenges in digital transformation, especially when implementing the financial autonomy mechanism. While print newspapers and traditional advertising are declining, e-newspapers and the digital content ecosystem are opening up new opportunities. Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper's focus on developing modern products such as videos, podcasts, longform, talk shows, etc. is the right direction. However, to take advantage of this opportunity, the press needs to comprehensively innovate in thinking, organization and production and distribution methods.
I hope that the workshop will be a place to share practical solutions such as: Developing digital advertising, creating multi-platform content, organizing media events, etc., and at the same time, propose support policies from the State on facilities, technology, and finance so that the press can stand firm and develop in an increasingly competitive environment.
Journalist Nguyen Thi Thanh Hai, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Son La Newspaper:
The workshop topic is very correct and in line with the implementation of Resolution 57.

Digital transformation has been and is an issue that the Party, the State, localities and units are very concerned about, and is one of the prerequisites for our country to develop richly and strongly in the new era. Therefore, the theme "Promoting the tradition of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism, pioneering digital transformation, accompanying the country into the new era" that Hanoi Moi Newspaper put forward at this Conference is very correct and accurate, especially when the political system of the whole country is focusing on effectively implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TU dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.
Son La is one of 14 provinces in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region. Accompanying the development of the province, Son La Newspaper constantly innovates propaganda, invests in equipment and applies information technology to "renew" publications, contributing to the implementation of the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the term 2020-2025: Building Son La to develop green, fast and sustainably.
However, Son La Newspaper still has limitations in implementing digital transformation, especially in switching from traditional media to digital platforms; the application of utility software, design, graphics... is still limited, making some products not really attractive to readers.
By attending this workshop, we hope to share experiences from colleagues in implementing the digital transformation strategy of journalism and digital transformation propaganda work in various fields, contributing to the good performance of the role and mission of journalism, contributing to the overall development of the province and the country.
Journalist Tran Van Duc, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Bac Giang Newspaper:
Desire to "go together to go further"

At the 30th expanded Conference of Party Newspapers of Northern provinces and cities with the theme "Promoting the tradition of revolutionary journalism, pioneering digital transformation, accompanying the country into the new era", Bac Giang Newspaper brought a presentation: "Cooperation and connection between Party newspapers in the trend of integration and development" - a topic rich in current events and closely linked to the reality taking place in many press agencies.
Bac Giang Newspaper chose this topic based on the survival needs of local journalism: In the context of limited resources, rapidly changing technology, and fragmented readers, the sustainable way to improve communication efficiency is cooperation and association. Unable to develop alone in an open media environment, revolutionary journalism can only play a leading role when it knows how to share resources and innovate together.
From that awareness, Bac Giang Newspaper has had many specific and effective ways of doing things. The unit has cooperated with Vietnam News Agency and Nhan Dan Newspaper to build an English and Chinese e-newspaper - becoming the province's main external propaganda channel. At the same time, the newspaper proactively coordinated with many local Party newspapers such as Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, Lang Son, Hanoi... to propagate inter-regionally and support communication for major events. The newspaper also focuses on training cooperation, technology sharing, and improving the newsroom model towards convergence and multi-platform.
At the workshop, Bac Giang Newspaper made a number of proposals: Building a shared digital platform for Party newspapers; establishing a Party Newspaper Association Council to coordinate content and data; organizing inter-regional specialized pages on economics, tourism, and agricultural products; expanding regional journalism competitions to connect journalism teams. The goal is to build a modern, effective, and widespread mainstream journalism ecosystem.
The message we convey is not new but is timely: Cooperation is the way to overcome difficulties and elevate the Party newspaper - spreading positive values in social life.
“Newspapers that go alone can go fast, but only newspapers that go together can go far and sustainably” - the concluding sentence of our presentation is also our commitment to action.
