North-South railway reopens after flood impacts in South Central Coast

At 8:30 p.m. on November 25, after two successful technical load tests at the Hao Son - Phu Hiep section (Khanh Hoa province), the North - South railway line was reopened through the South Central region after many days of being affected by floods.

Vietnam Railways Corporation announced that trains will run normally from November 28. On November 26-27, the Railway Transport Company will continue to adjust train schedules in accordance with the infrastructure situation during the recovery phase.

On the same day, a working group led by Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Danh Huy was present at the scene to inspect the railway incident repair work on the route, and at the same time encourage and visit workers and laborers during the construction.

Previously, more than 300 workers of Thuan Hai Railway Joint Stock Company, Nghia Binh, Thanh Hoa had gathered at 3 construction sites to deal with the incident at Km1211-Km1215, Hao Son - Phu Hiep section (Khanh Hoa province), where the roadbed was washed away and the centerline of the road was shifted by 4m. This is a particularly difficult area because there is only one access by rail, causing many obstacles for construction work.

Currently, Vietnam Railway Corporation is urgently inspecting, reviewing, evaluating, and synthesizing the damage caused by floods in the South Central region.

In case the budget for railway infrastructure management and maintenance allocated for 2025 is not enough, the Ministry of Construction requests a report and considers proposing the Prime Minister to arrange the central budget reserve to carry out rescue and recovery work after storms and floods.
