On May 20, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Tien Giang province Le Quang Tri said that he had learned about the case of the Principal of Nguyen Van Tiep High School (Tan Phuoc district) having an open letter to mobilize funds for the high school graduation exam.

Mr. Tri said he had asked the Principal of Nguyen Van Tiep High School to withdraw the open letter and immediately rectify the fundraising for the 2025 high school graduation exam.

Mr. Tri affirmed that this was the work of Nguyen Van Tiep High School; the Department of Education and Training of Tien Giang province did not have the above policy and requested that other schools in the province absolutely not mobilize or donate money outside of regulations.

Previously, on May 2, Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, Principal of Nguyen Van Tiep High School, signed an open letter regarding financial support for the 2025 high school graduation exam.

In the letter, Mr. Nam said that in the 2024 high school graduation exam, in addition to the spiritual factor, the school received a portion of funding from parents to support the successful organization of the exam.

“For this year’s exam, the school also hopes to contribute some funds to support the school in organizing meals and accommodations for teachers who come from far away to perform their duties,” the document signed by Mr. Nam stated, adding that “although the state has allocated funds for the exam invigilation work for teachers to perform their duties, the parents’ contributions will have a profound meaning for teachers who come from far away to perform their duties at the school.”

In the document, Mr. Nam added that the school, in coordination with the parents' representative committee, has the intention to support this exam according to each parent's ability. "The school will use the parents' contributions for the right purpose," the document stated, emphasizing that "the school is not required to contribute, but based on the voluntary spirit of the parents."

There are many mixed opinions about Nguyen Van Tiep High School mobilizing funds from parents to support officials and teachers to supervise the exam. Some opinions say that the State allocates funds for the high school graduation exam for officials, teachers and functional forces to perform their duties.

Volunteers are also available to assist candidates during the exam period. Fundraising for this work is not necessary.
