Boldly investing and taking advantage of local advantages has helped Ms. Vu Thi Hien, Phung Hung commune (Khoai Chau) become rich from a clean vegetable production model according to VietGAP standards.
Currently, with an area of more than 6 hectares of rice fields, Ms. Hien has invested in land improvement, building a greenhouse area of nearly 3,000 square meters for high-tech agricultural production, with many types of vegetables, tubers, and fruits with high economic value such as: Kale, tomato clusters, rainbow chard, American sweet peppers, asparagus...; the remaining rice field area is used to rotate short-term vegetables, medicinal plants such as: Apricot cabbage, sweet cabbage, dandelion...
To build a clean vegetable growing model, during the care process, Ms. Hien promoted the application of science , technology, and VietGAP standards in production. Along with that, she invested in a water filtration system, automatic watering; installed a drip irrigation system using Israeli technology to help the amount of water and nutrients from fertilizers to the roots of the plants, meeting each stage of plant growth and not wasting irrigation water; prioritized vegetables, tubers, and fruits to be planted seasonally to limit pests and diseases; adhered to the "5 no" principle... Thanks to proper care and close monitoring of the nutritional regimen, the product quality is consistent, ensuring food safety.
Ms. Hien said: When planting, I always pay attention to soil improvement, fertilization, pest control and watering enough to keep the plants moist. Aiming for clean agricultural production, during the care process, I only use organic fertilizers from composted manure, corn bran, rice... to fertilize the plants; use biological products from ginger, garlic, chili to spray to prevent and control pests for the plants. With such a care process, my family's products are of good quality, ensure food safety, are favored by customers, and are consumed conveniently.
Thanks to the effective application of science and technology, Ms. Hien's production has become more proactive, with productivity doubling compared to traditional production. On average, each year, her production model supplies the market with about 120 tons of agricultural products, bringing in a profit of over 1 billion VND, creating regular jobs for 20 workers.
In the coming time, Ms. Hien will continue to learn experience and techniques, expand the vegetable growing area to improve productivity and product quality. At the same time, cooperate with households in the commune to establish a cooperative to produce safe vegetables.
