The "capital" of coffee rises from its 50-year historical journey

The Buon Ma Thuot victory on March 10, 1975 was a brilliant milestone, opening the historical General Offensive and Uprising of Spring 1975. Half a century after the liberation day, to express the deep gratitude of the Party Committee, government and people of Dak Lak to the generation of fathers and grandfathers who sacrificed their blood for independence and freedom, the 50th Anniversary of the Buon Ma Thuot Victory was organized very solemnly and on a large scale.

Rituals such as: Incense offering ceremony; Ceremony to visit the provincial martyrs' cemetery; Incense and flower offering ceremony at the special national relic Buon Ma Thuot Prison have strongly aroused patriotism, national pride and revolutionary tradition.

Many memorandums of understanding have been signed between Vietnamese enterprises and importers from China and Korea.

Propaganda andeducation work has also achieved outstanding results, especially the Online Contest to learn about the 50th anniversary of Buon Ma Thuot Victory, liberating Dak Lak province is a clear demonstration of the effectiveness of propaganda and education work in the digital age. The contest attracted a large number of participants, up to 754,328 entries after only 3 weeks. Notably, not only the people in the province actively responded (accounting for 77.7%) but also many candidates from all over the country participated (accounting for 22.3%). This number shows the strong influence of the contest in promoting the revolutionary tradition, culture, history and outstanding achievements of Dak Lak to a large number of cadres, party members and people inside and outside the province.

The historical science perspective was also deeply exploited through the Ministry of National Defense -level scientific conference with the theme "The 1975 Central Highlands Victory and half a century of building and developing Dak Lak". The conference received nearly 90 presentations from scientists and historical witnesses, and was an opportunity to review traditions and express gratitude for their great contributions. More importantly, this was a forum for Dak Lak to evaluate the 50-year journey of building and developing, thereby proposing strategic policies and solutions for the future, building a rich and unique Dak Lak province. The conference also aimed to honor and affirm the value of the Central Highlands Victory for the current cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

"The success of the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival is a strong motivation for Dak Lak to make more efforts in the journey towards the goal of building Dak Lak province to develop rapidly, be rich, civilized, and have its own identity, creating a solid foundation together with the whole country to enter a new era - the era of the Vietnamese people's rise" - he , Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee .

The photo exhibition “Dak Lak - 50 years of construction and development” at Dak Lak Museum also recorded positive results. With more than 150 valuable images and documents, the exhibition introduced important historical milestones of the battle and the province's outstanding achievements in 50 years of renovation. The exhibition attracted nearly 5,000 visitors, with 779 delegations, including international visitors (41 delegations/125 visitors)...

Along with the historical anniversary, the 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival in 2025 has affirmed its role as a "lever" for the province's economy. With the theme "Buon Ma Thuot - Destination of world coffee", including 17 official activities and many response activities, the Festival has left many impressions in the hearts of people and domestic and foreign tourists.

The Festival’s central role in promoting coffee trade is clearly demonstrated through the Specialized and OCOP Products Exhibition Fair. With 435 booths of 180 domestic and international enterprises, the fair is not only a display space but also an important platform to promote trade connections. As a result, through the fair, 30 contracts and cooperation agreements were signed, with a total value of over 10 billion VND, and direct sales at the fair of over 3 billion VND.

Along with that, the International Trade Conference with the theme "Connecting and Elevating Vietnamese Coffee" was also a highlight, attracting more than 730 delegates, including 192 delegates from international organizations, embassies and consulates from many countries. This is an important forum to discuss market trends, international standards and export orientation. At the same time, it opens up opportunities for connection, cooperation and expansion of consumption markets for Vietnamese coffee in general and Dak Lak in particular. Notable results are 18 memorandums of understanding signed between Vietnamese enterprises and importers from China and Korea.

In particular, the groundbreaking ceremony of Trung Nguyen Legend Energy Coffee Factory (with a total investment of over VND 2,000 billion), the groundbreaking ceremony of the Trade Center - Hotel - Housing Complex and Phu Xuan Industrial Park projects are considered "special highlights" of the Festival, showing the strong investment attraction of Dak Lak. These projects not only create the premise for socio-economic development but also play an important role in deep processing, creating high-value raw materials and shaping the Vietnamese coffee industry.

The 9th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival also recorded spectacular results in the tourism sector. The total number of visitors attending the Festival from March 9 to 13 reached 250,000, including about 1,800 international visitors. This was a great success, not only promoting coffee but also significantly boosting Dak Lak tourism, contributing to positioning the brand "Buon Ma Thuot - Destination of world coffee".

Notably, the first time the General Director of the International Coffee Organization (ICO) attended and spoke at the opening ceremony not only enhanced the position of Vietnamese coffee in the international arena but also created a great opportunity for the coffee industry to expand cooperation and access international markets. This special attention from a prestigious global organization affirms the increasingly important role of Vietnamese coffee in the supply chain. In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism also officially awarded the Certificate of "Knowledge of growing and processing coffee in Dak Lak" as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage to Dak Lak province. This is the foundation for making Vietnamese coffee and the Buon Ma Thuot coffee growing region a UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage.
