Mr. Phan Anh Son, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations attended and delivered a speech at the Congress. Strengthening connectivity, expanding cooperation in many fields
According to the direction in the report presented at the Congress, in the 2025-2030 term, the Association will focus on two main groups of tasks: Promoting tourism connections, cultural exchanges, people-to-people exchanges, enhancing exchanges between localities and friendship organizations of the two countries to strengthen friendship and understanding between the two peoples. The Association will promote the role of people-to-people diplomacy to serve Vietnam's socio -economic development by 2030 in the spirit of Directive 15-CT/TW, dated August 10, 2022, contributing to the goal of Vietnam becoming a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030.
The Congress also identified many specific tasks and solutions, including: maintaining and expanding peace, solidarity and friendship activities; actively participating in and organizing high-level delegations between the two countries. The Association will expand its network of partners, focusing on connecting social movements, youth and women's organizations, universities, research institutes and businesses in Brazil; promoting the signing of cooperation agreements, including studying the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Brazil - Vietnam Friendship Association and suitable partners. The Association also focuses on strengthening the organization, perfecting its operating regulations, expanding the number of businesses participating in the Executive Committee; at the same time, promoting information and propaganda work, researching the restoration of memorial sites associated with President Ho Chi Minh in Brazil, opening media accounts on digital platforms, thereby deepening the friendship between the people of the two countries.

The Congress elected the 3rd Executive Committee of the Association, consisting of 35 members, and the Inspection Committee, consisting of 3 members. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment, was elected as Chairman of the Association.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hiep expressed his honor to be entrusted with the great achievements of previous terms, and emphasized that this is also a great responsibility in the context of the Vietnam - Brazil relationship being at its best stage of development, especially in the fields of agriculture, trade and comprehensive cooperation. He affirmed that he will unite with the 3rd Executive Committee and make efforts to maintain and further develop the achievements, contributing to promoting the friendship and extensive cooperation between the two countries.

In his congratulatory speech at the Congress, Brazilian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Farani said that the Brazil-Vietnam relationship has "never been better", characterized by mutual trust, open dialogue and determination to expand economic, trade, scientific and technological cooperation. Despite the volatile global context, the two economies are still pursuing the goal of diversifying and expanding trade. In less than two and a half years working in Hanoi, he witnessed a sharp increase in the frequency of high-level delegation exchanges, especially the State visit of President Lula da Silva to Vietnam in March 2025 - the occasion when the two countries announced the upgrading of relations to a Strategic Partnership, signed a Joint Action Plan and many important agreements, including opening the beef and fish markets to each other. The Ambassador believes that the new Executive Committee of the Association will contribute to deepening comprehensive cooperation between the people of the two countries.
Strengthening the Association's organization and effectively implementing specific tasks
In his speech, Mr. Phan Anh Son, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, said that the Congress took place at a special time when the Vietnam - Brazil relationship was developing strongly. In just the past three years, the two countries' senior leaders had had 5 meetings. He requested the Association to promptly complete the Congress Resolution and the full-term Work Program; organize regular meetings of the Standing Committee and Executive Committee, and comply with the Charter to effectively implement the assigned tasks.

He emphasized the need to strengthen people-to-people cooperation in the fields of education, tourism, science and technology, make good use of the role of the two countries' embassies and expand business connections. He suggested three specific tasks: translating President Ho Chi Minh's "Prison Diary" and Ho Xuan Huong's poetry collection into Portuguese; and digitizing the Portuguese-Vietnamese Dictionary for free distribution on an online platform, facilitating people-to-people exchanges.
Mr. Phan Anh Son also suggested that the Association closely coordinate with the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Brazilian Embassy in Vietnam to organize thematic exchanges, mobilize the participation of relevant agencies, businesses, counselors and attachés of the Embassy to further expand cooperation potential.

On this occasion, Mr. Phan Anh Son presented the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to Mr. Nguyen Van Lang, Chairman of the Association for the 2nd term, in recognition of his achievements in contributing to strengthening the solidarity, friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Brazil. He also presented the Medal "For Peace and Friendship among Nations" of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to Mr. Nguyen Van Lang; presented the Certificate of Merit of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to the Association and 03 individuals; and posthumously presented the Certificate of Merit to 01 individual.
