Attending the meeting, on the Vietnamese side, there were Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long and representatives of units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade: Department of Foreign Market Development, Electricity Department, Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion.
On the Arup Group side, there were Mr. Richard de Cani, Global Executive Director of Business and Markets; Mr. TC Chew, Regional Executive Director of Asia - Pacific; Mr. Ching Lau, Regional Leader of Southeast Asia; Mr. Jhan Chan, Head of Transmission & Distribution in Southeast Asia.
Arup Group participates in many large projects in Vietnam such as Long Thanh airport project, Landmark 81 Tower, North-South high-speed railway... Projects with Arup's participation span many fields, from construction, infrastructure to information technology, renewable energy, green transformation.
At the meeting, representatives of Arup Group expressed their desire to continue consulting on large projects in Vietnam in the coming time, especially in the energy sector. Arup introduced its consulting capacity to deploy renewable energy systems, offshore wind power, coal power conversion, smart grids, energy storage systems, carbon-neutral seaports, etc.
On behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long asked Arup Group to coordinate with JETP energy sub-groups to coordinate with sub-group members, provide consultancy and participate in projects. The Deputy Minister especially welcomed the solutions on offshore wind power, power grids, and carbon-neutral seaports introduced by Arup Group. Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long said that Vietnam wants to develop renewable energy not only to meet domestic demand but also to expand energy exports to the region. Therefore, the potential for developing renewable energy projects in Vietnam is still very large, attractive to consulting companies like Arup.
The representative of Arup Group thanked Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long for his sharing and expressed optimism about the orientation of the Vietnamese Government and the potential for developing renewable energy projects. Arup Group said it is ready to participate in Vietnam's promising infrastructure, construction and renewable energy projects in the near future.
