Procedures for paying traffic violation fines by post

VTC NewsVTC News11/12/2024

Section 3 of Resolution No. 10/NQ-CP of the regular Government meeting in January 2016 clearly states: " ...The Government agrees to allow the implementation of the service of collecting and paying administrative fines and delivering temporary detention papers for people who have been administratively sanctioned for violations in the field of road traffic nationwide through the postal system..."

Thus, traffic violators will be allowed to pay fines and receive documents by post instead of having to go directly to the State Treasury to pay the fine and then bring the receipt to the traffic police headquarters to receive the vehicle documents.

When violating traffic laws and having a ticket issued; documents temporarily confiscated, the violator can register to pay the fine by post on the back of the ticket. When the deadline for paying the fine comes, go to the nearest post office to register and send the fine as well as the service fee. The post office will be responsible for paying the fine as well as collecting the documents from the police; and delivering them to the violator's home.

Paying fines by mail brings many practical benefits to people. This process saves time and effort. Instead of having to go directly to the authorities to pay fines, violators can complete this at home through the postal service. This is especially useful for those who live far from administrative centers.

Paying fines by mail also helps reduce congestion at traditional fine collection points. This not only brings convenience to people but also reduces the burden on authorities.

Paying traffic fines by mail requires people to follow certain steps. Here are detailed instructions:

- Receive a traffic violation ticket: When you commit a traffic violation, you will receive a ticket from the police. This ticket will contain detailed information about the violation, the fine, and instructions for paying the fine.

- Prepare documents: You need to prepare necessary documents including violation report, identity card (or citizen identification), and vehicle documents (if required).

- Contact the post office: Go to the nearest post office to pay the fine. Here, the post office staff will guide you on how to fill in the information and complete the necessary procedures.

- Transferring fine payment: The fine amount will be transferred to the authority's account via postal service. Once completed, you will receive a receipt for the fine payment.

- Keep the invoice: After completing the fine payment, you should keep the invoice and related documents as evidence in case of dispute.

Be sure to double-check the information on the violation notice and the fine payment receipt to ensure that all information is correct. Processing times may vary depending on the location and postal service, so be sure to allow time to avoid late payment. If you have any questions or problems, contact the relevant authorities for prompt resolution.
