Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attends the closing ceremony of My Thuan 2 Bridge

On the afternoon of October 13, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation attended the closing ceremony of My Thuan 2 Bridge.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of Vinh Long and Tien Giang provinces performed the closing ceremony.

Attending the closing ceremony, the Prime Minister commended the ministries, localities and construction units for their efforts to overcome difficulties, exceed the construction schedule and close the contract earlier than planned.

The Prime Minister commended ministries, localities and construction units of My Thuan 2 Bridge for exceeding the set schedule.

The My Thuan 2 Bridge project and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge have a total investment of more than 5,000 billion VND, started in February 2020, with Project Management Board 7 (Ministry of Transport) as the investor. After more than 40 months of construction, the project has reached more than 95% of the volume.

My Thuan 2 Bridge is a key project connecting the Trung Luong - My Thuan and My Thuan - Can Tho expressways, forming a highway from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho, shortening travel time and transporting goods for people.

The My Thuan 2 Bridge project and 2 access roads start at Km1010+126, connecting to the Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway at An Thai Trung intersection (Cai Be district, Tien Giang) and end at Km107+740, connecting to the My Thuan - Can Tho expressway at the QL80 intersection (in Vinh Long city, Vinh Long).

My Thuan 2 Bridge officially closed

NAM LONG

The total length of the project is 6.6 km; the main bridge is 1.9 km long. The approach roads at both ends of the bridge are 4.7 km long (4.33 km on Tien Giang side, 0.4 km on Vinh Long side); navigation clearance is 37.5 m. Phase 1, investment phase with a scale of 4 lanes, the completed phase will invest in building 6 lanes, the roadbed width is about 32 m. The design speed is 80 km/h, the width of the bridge surface for vehicles is 25 m; the main span is a cable-stayed structure of 650 m long; the approach span is a Super T girder and a balanced cantilever box girder 1,276 m long.

Prime Minister presents gifts to construction unit at closing ceremony

The location of My Thuan 2 Bridge is parallel to Highway 1, 350m upstream from the existing My Thuan Bridge. It is expected that by the end of 2023, My Thuan 2 Bridge will be put into operation. Along with that, the My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway is also expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of this year, helping to smooth the expressway from Ho Chi Minh City to Can Tho, creating a complete traffic network in the Mekong Delta region. In addition, the project also helps reduce traffic load for the existing My Thuan Bridge.
